Hopefully the extra 15fps on the 8k X is noticeable but i doubt it.
Motion smoothing was totally broken so I hope this fixes it. I want to play with minimum PT 1.0 but without MS could only get 55-60 FPS
Im on a 3090 and I put it up to pitool 1.0, steamVR i tried at 100%, and put the settings to high on most, and got 60fps approx.
I was running it around steamVR SS 50% with the 2080Ti to get it to a flat 75fps with medium settings i believe it was, but this weekend ill try pitool 1.0, steamVR SS around 70-80%, and medium settings to see if it holds at 75fps and ill start ticking up the in-game options as well until i cant hold the 75fps any more.
Yeah honestly I’ve seen enough people push devs and fail with this one. I wouldn’t get my hopes up, just keep using PP. AMAZING news on the refresh rate though. I can finally play maybe! haha
Sure good luck. With a 2080 Ti I’m hoping for PT 1.0, SS 100%, MS On, mix of in-game settings. If they’ve done enough of a performance fix then this should hold steady around 37/38.
This was the case on first release, but it was a later patch that broke MS.
How about the stars anyone know if they’re fixed?
im back from testing, fps is fixed yeah but still requires parallel projection. much more enjoyable now after tuning for 90fps. stars not fixed that i noticed.
I dont use Motion Smoothing. I dont like it.

Fair enough. I don’t like dropping Steam SS, the point of the X for me is to use native res.
Unfortunately it doesn’t seem fixed to me. The first session seemed good, FPS was holding, but then later on it started doing the massive stutter again.

yes there’s a separate bug that sometimes tanks frame rate when you die that can persist a few seconds into your next spawn but that’s a completely different issue than the frame duplication over 60 fps that we’re excited about being fixed
No it doesn’t go away, it can only be fixed temporarily by a restart of the game. When it happens the game lags in massive steps, so completely game breaking and unplayable for me at that point.
And just for extra fun, it still crashes SteamVR on every exit

weird, mine usually recovers after ~20 seconds
fwiw i had this problem before the latest update, fixed now for me at least! it was a real hassle because it would crash vr in a way that could only be fixed with a full pc restart
Huh strange, just goes to show how different people’s experiences can be. Nothing has improved for me and the previous breakers are all still there.
There’s nothing more annoying than starting a mp session (can happen on sp as well) and the lagging start, so you can either have a horrible unplayable experience, or quit, which the game penalises you for.
I was on the latest Nvidia drivers but reverted to the one before some time ago, as that seemed worse.
I’ve had this issue too, honestly I don’t have any interest in playing until they fix it. It’s extremely agitating to play for 10 minutes at a time. For me I don’t have the issue on the 5k+ at 120hz but i do with quest+link, even on the origin version. It’s butter smooth for 10-15 mins then like single digit fps. I’ve had it happen on the 5k as well, but after finishing a SP mission it fixed itself
