STAR WARS: Squadrons Discussion

Patch 1.2 released. Vague about performance improvements, I’ve only tried Solo Fleet Battle so far to test, will have to try MP later.

“Improved performance while using Steam VR”

they still didt fix the refreshrate bug

Thats just ridiculous.

Sorry in case I should have overlooked it - is there a way to fix the cut scenes for Pimax headsets in large FoV? The game itself looks good for me now, but the cut scenes are far too close.

The first time i ran the game that happened, but it fixed itself somehow.
Normal FOV, PP On, SteamVR SS 50%, on the Pimax 8K X

Wasn’t so lucky yet. PP is on, will play around with FoV settings and stuff.
I start to understand why the consoles are so popular. Always having to fiddle around until stuff works starts to get tiring.

i highly agree. PC always looks better and feels more realistic, but the consoles dont have such issues getting things running. Lower the SS Values in SteamVR… That may have been the reason it fixed itself for me. Try 50%, then 60%, etc

I don’t know about you guys, but the main issue on my side is stutter. When doing an MP fleet battle, it starts lagging for no obvious reasons. It really is unplayable and the last patch didn’t help. Whatever Pitool or in-game settings I set, it’s still the same.

5k+ / 72hz / PP ON / Smart Smoothing ON / 75% SS / In-game setting Low

Ryzen 3600 / RTX 2080 / 16Gb DDR4 / Installed on SSD

What are your PC Specs?

Edited above

no telemetry , no virpil throttle support and still blurry stars… nothing for me
this patch should be named 1.11 not 1.2

Virpil Throttle works for me.
Blurry stars ye… and no telemetry :frowning:

I would assume thats the reason. I’m getting decent fps and fairly smooth. I’m using SteamVR SS 50%, PiTool 1.0, Normal FOV, PP On… and Im using 32gb@4000mhz ddr4, 2080Ti, 9900KS@5.0 All Core… You should lower Your SteamVR SS more.

It works only as vjoy with j. gremlin. I have heard it works when you have only 1 virpil usb device. I have also WarBrd with latest Alpha grip.

Im using Virpil T-50CM2 base with Constellation-R grip and the t50-cm2 throttle - both are seen in SWS.

Absolutely, had exactly the same. It’s a massive bug, along with blurry background and guaranteed SteamVR crash on exit, that they still haven’t fixed.

Hey Leonardo, try 120hz mode. That should fix your stutter. The game only renders 60 FPS and it plays particularly nasty with my quest, also at 72hz. Index users are also reporting that 120hz works well, 144 and 90 unplayable.

what? Makes no sens XD

Alright I’ll try this out <3

With Smart Smoothing?

Ok, played around with various permutations of FoV (down to normal, then small), SS (down to 50%), Quality (down to low), Vive compatibility (on/off), Hidden area mask (on/off). Still no luck with the cut scenes. They seem to be hardwired to the view direction (like the Pimax logo when starting the HMD), but with the wrong distance, so I can’t really see what’s going on. Ok, the story isn’t so difficult to follow so far… Still, seeing things in computer games helps with immersion.

Yeah, there’s some weird bug where the game will report good frame times/FPS but it’s only actually rendering at 60hz. If you watch a frame by frame video it’s obvious

I play at 120hz with smart smoothing on yeah, works great that way.
