I refunded faster then i bought, had hoped for more then an EA Shooter with cockpit. To bad, could really have been great…

Well it was never going to be an open world title or anything like that. It was going to be a fleet battle game a la X-Wing, TIE Fighter etc. Which is acceptable to me, I loved those games.

Especially for an EA ‘budget’ game. Although their idea of budget at £30 is a joke. Fallen Order for £50+? They can shove it. This was one of the few occasions I went against better judgement to pre-order something, and an EA title of all things. And it was a bad move, it just meant it was not working properly.

Now, having tried 30 mins after the new patch, matchmaking seems stable thankfully. VR performance seems less erratic, was holding a fairly steady FPS and frames, but need to play a few more scenarios to be sure. They don’t claim to have solved it, but they acknowledge some players are getting locked framerates and choppy gameplay:

Everyone who hasn’t already (thanks to those who have), please add your support to this thread. They aren’t listing it as a to be fixed issue yet, but it is approaching the point when they should. 30%+ performance for all of us for free when they do!

Thanks for this, done!

F*ckers didn’t even acknowledged the refresh rate problem as a bug, let alone fixed it. Ruins the game for me…

“Some players”, my *ss. Everyone has it, just most people are clueless because the framerate counter says it’s full speed. :man_facepalming:

I ran fpsVR and I see 75fps with my settings on the 8k x. I did see it lower when i was using higher settings, but now that im using all medium settings, I can get 75fps with pitool 1.0 and SteamVR SS at 50%… so in my case, I dont have that 60fps bug.

I think you’re misunderstanding the bug - the game itself is running capped at 60fps. Trust me, on my 300hz monitor i can tell, even though I’m ‘getting well over 100’ according to any FPS tools playing flat.

You’re so close to 60hz that you may not notice, but it is painfully obvious that animations are running at 60 frames per second. Looks awwwwful, like moving objects stutter, not your system. No frame drops. Honestly I’m pretty used to reprojection and ~60fps in sims, so I’m still having fun. Totally ruins the game on a monitor for me though.

they are aware of the issue and will probably fix in the future

Look at this video, it’s from a 144Hz recording. You can see why it feels stuttery if you watch the slow motion section:

Btw, if we finally had the promised 60Hz refresh rate available on our 8K-X, this would be a non-issue.

…“ME TOO”…

Wish they’d make it work ugh. Still randomly stuttering massively on some matches and OK on others. Horrible and unplayable when it does that

Anyone else is experiencing crashes to desktop ? When playing in vr during transitioning between the hanger screen and the actual flight screen , the game crashes. This can be worked around by toggling vr off before transitioning the screens, and then back on after. But most time it happens during MP mode - Fast Game and there is no time for vr off/on. Realy annoying bug

Yeah I was getting crashes to desktop after a cutscene on certain modes. Set Volumetric Detail VR to Low, that solved it for me. Others have said they got away with Medium, might work. There’s a separate setting for VR and non VR, and both have been causing problems for people.

I don’t have the game, I don’t have any doubt about the stuttering some of you guys have and don’t know how it really works on monitors but in VR my experience leads to this conclusion.
If you have 80 fps on 90 hz mode (no matter what game) it’s stuttering.
If you have 72 fps on 72hz mode it’s smooth.
So I don’t really get how a high refresh rate screen can be a good tool to see if the game stutters or not, cause by definition if it gets less fps than the refresh rate, it will look stuttering, won’t it?
Also instead of using the small fov to get 90 fps on the 90hz mode, I’ d rather use the normal fov in the 72hz(75hz if 8kx) mode if it may lead to a steady 72 fps (does it?), Cause 72 fps on 72hz is smoother than a non solid 90 fps on 90 hz for example.

How did you guys get this running in the first place?
I got into the game in flat mode, but in VR I either saw unmatched images on the left and right eye (no matter whether in parallel projection mode or not) - or/and no menu was shown and the game didn’t react to gamepad or keyboard actions at all. Didn’t get past the start screen in VR.
