It’d be nice for those who ordered back in October of 2019 to get some kind of compensation for their wait, especially given that they’re well beyond the refund limit for Paypal, supposedly. I ordered in May so I’m not really in that boat, but like… maybe free shipping? Having the shipping costs waived sounds like a decent enough perk, thats $60 USD.

Very true, Pimax was going to give everyone everything, to many things. look back to the 5K whoops heres your 5k we now have a 5k+ backers wait what??? on and on. They are still being dishonest and thinks its ok ! Good thing is Pimax after canceling my tickets which were posted months ago, sent me a satisfactory questionnaire. this is the only thing I’ve ever got from Pimax ever.
Y’all can rage when Ali-express gets your headset many many months before you did which happened to my 5K+.

No one knew it existed because it didn’t exist.
Let me put it to you this way. 8KX backers found out the 8KX was being made the same day as everyone else way into the future. When we backed the thing and months after that no one even knew what Pimax was planning.

The 5k was never released as the 5k; only the 5k+. I wouldn’t say Dishonest; just horrible with delivering on time; MAS was supposed to be out in Headset release. The MAS stretchgoal once it was unlocked was to replace the cloth strap. The Hand tracking module was also supposed to be released with the headset as it was just a pre purchase you could add to your pledge.
Honestly the Pimax Now event is maybe a good thing. But no matter what is done not everyone is going to be happy. As a Backer I am not thrilled to have to wait til August (if on time) to receive a headstrap with my headsets being out if warranty period. Even though both have Manufacturing defects(cracks) with one of them only taken out of the box to test a new pitool and firmware. I pledged for 2 full packages with the idea that the full package would be completed with 6 months of the headset release.
I think we really for the most part are going to have to accept some aggravation.
I only see the consumer space as a whole going to get worst. Games already often are released with big bugs cause they can fix it later and offer “Oops dlc”. And pimax is not alone with taking pre orders with hefty delays. Some with charging a deposit or full price; but usually not this long of delays. However sane game devs have discovered consumers will pay real cash for virtual coin and cheats - the sky us the limit. Unfortunately consumers are unlikely to band together against these issues. As there will be always those whom will cross the line to be first or in a leaderboard.

OK just one thing, pre orders are you pre order X and when it ships you get charged for X
I pre ordered the rift when they shipped they charged, pre ordered HP Pro it shipped they charged, pre ordered Index they ship then charged. Order a 5K+ on Amazon took money and two days later I had the head set. Pre order Pimax 8K x they took money no head set yet!!! You see a pre order is not I fund you as a kick starter. Pimax ran into a lot of BS while trying to build things they said almost shipping!! when in fact they had nothing, as a backer you understood that. They needed the pre order money to help finish stuff. Instead of finishing what they said they were going to for backers they started new head sets, lots of things most still nothing but air, ect.

Keep digging there are companies on both sides that do or have taken pre order full charge prior to release.

If you don’t trust Pimax, you should unfortunately ask for a refund, Pimax supports The system was weak, slow to respond, and had a lot of problems. I also encountered a problem where it took more than 3 months for RMA and I received the wrong product. But I trust Pimax. But I trust Pimax because they are honest. Business practices vary from country to country and region to region, but they are willing to go beyond that.
Pimax is the reason why 8KX, which was originally scheduled to be available in January 2020, has been stretched to April and beyond. There was. At that point, the booker could have sought some compensation for the delay. But then the world changed. Nearly everything came to a halt and there was nowhere to go.
Pimax members continued to develop (at their peril), update the forum and keep us informed even as the society was shut down by the coronavirus.
At a time when so many projects have been shut down or scrapped, it’s almost a miracle that the Pimax project, especially 8KX, is only a few months behind (they grabbed the miracle through hard work and diligence).
I paid thousands of dollars for tickets to the Tokyo Olympics, but they were postponed to next year If the Olympics are cancelled, all of this money will not come back. And in Japan, no one is looking for compensation for the postponement of the Olympics, because no one can be held responsible for the consequences of the current delay. Everyone understands that the current delays are a consequence and that no one can be blamed for them. We believe the same is currently true for Pimax’s delays.
Pre-orderers are lined up in order of order. Those who ordered early last year have seats available in the first group of regular sales. Those ordering now will be at the end of the line. No one will skip the order. I’m sure there are some B-to-B transactions that have already taken place that we can’t see, but they too are in line It makes no difference that they are lined up in the streets.
Personally, I think the upgrade group and the pre-order group should be delivered in the same order, in the same order of order. However, due to shipping costs and other factors, there is a need to group them by region, so the order of order is inevitable to some extent. I’d like to see Pimax clarify these details.

It’s very sad to see that in the past few days, there have been a few threads where people have been exchanging statements for the sake of mutual understanding, but at some point, they’ve turned into a series of self-serving, judgmental statements for the purpose of satisfying their own needs.

Only if you have solid evidence of pimax ran out of money and needed pre order money to finish developing 8kx, then yes perhaps pre orders are sort of like kickstarter.
Without evidence that’s just pure speculation tho.

Not saying taking the payment early was right but there’s more than 1 way of doing business, apparently a more controversial way was chosen.
But the core of this is, you prefer preorders to be sent earlier, maybe not as early as backers coz that’s just silly, but somewhere same time as upgraders, but dont forget upgraders also paid earlier and committed to the ks earlier too. I guess that’s part of the perks of committing to the whole project early.
But I think this is just nitpicking, I’m sure it wont be too long before everyone get their 8kx and this whole thing would be just a meaningless blabbering.

Pimax can finish this right now and explain why they need the pre order money so other than to say the obvious, so send me $1,500.00 after all its just nitpicking right? Just calm down, we are talking about 1000 units and pimax were making like 250units a day during 8k 5k+ shipping.

Preorderer should receive something. They told us we will receive a prescription adapter and they lied. They told us all preorderer would receive the smas for free and they lied. Now apparently the smas is now only compatible with the vision series?(correct me if I’m wrong). At this point I just had it being lied to. Very scared to buy the 8kx. Hope everyone receives it and I hope it won’t stop working after the 1 year warranty is up.
I appreciate that you responded to my post, and I believe I completely understand everything you said except for one thing. I truly sympathize with the backers over the ordeal they’ve gone through, but I don’t understand why you don’t believe that some compensation should be given for the mistreatment of those who preordered. Perhaps you would be accepting of some sort of discount that’s not quite as much as the backers are getting. Something should be given though. I can tell you I don’t want any pieces of content since I’ve already been collecting content in anticipation of delivery of my 8KX. It’s likely that Pimax would send me something I already have or something I’m not interested in.
generic, perhaps you didn’t see my earlier post where I said I’ve never received any notification from Pimax about anything other than the receipt of my order. I only recently joined this forum after I discovered it on my own. So no, I wasn’t told that the December/January shipping date was never realistic and that Pimax had shifted the shipping launch to April. And once again you suggest an acceptable alternative for us would be to get a refund as though the return of my money is what I want and will make everything alright. If I was more concerned about my money, I never would have ordered the 8KX in the first place. This is not an acceptable alternative even if I could actually get a refund now. What I want is to not be pushed further back in the que by new deals Pimax offers to backers and to get some sort of compensation for my neglect.
