So pre-order customers are getting their 8K-X in August/September?

Just got an update from Italy. the pack arrive tomorrow in my country and to me next friday, so only 2 days late from fexex estimate. . The fedex tracking page isn’t update and the total pay for only 8kx will be around 315 €!!

I don’t know… in Italy all is bad I think about 200 not more than 300!!

Have you recived tracking number ? As you know our SO are close together. Just saying its end of September I have literally zero infos from Pimax. I have only observed 2 new items on my invoice in mandarin language - probably hinges and second face pad.

Team reports we still on pace to hit the goal of end of the month for backers/upgrades/preorder completion.

PS: Expect an announcement very soon that provides some numbers.

I had same problem. ordered Oct 31. If you live in CA and they ship from CA instead of direct from CN it will not ship until you pay the CA state sales tax. But they do not ask you for it. I got lucky I had a refund for another purchase and advised me I could use credit to pay sales tax so they could ship. This after a month of asking why it hasn’t shipped yet. Their response was

“I created credit at 254$ just now. But found out your order SO4969 needs to fill in the sales tax for CA which is 7.25% for the value of the product. It should be 699$*7.25%. So need an extra 50.68$. Did anybody tell you about this before?”… I‘ve got my colleague notified about the shipment of your 8KX under your order SO4969. Should get it shipped out within one week. Will try to shorten the period."
This was on 9/17 so hoping it ships soon but so far no tracking update on my order page yet.

Update: 9/25 “funny” thing after paying the sales tax… it shipped direct from Shanghai . But good news is received my 8KX today. So if you can resolve and pay the tax it seems like you can finally get your 8KX in less than 2 weeks.
Good Luck. I do not know why they just don’t hire someone who can communicate clearly the details in English and get them resolved. Instead of not responding, like “maybe it will go away if we don’t do anything”. Not for a $1000+ desired piece of equipment.

Honestly not sure what there doing. Maybe @PimaxUSA can explain why it was said to have shipped to :us: warehouse why after paying california tax it shipped from Shanghai.

I’ve been lucky I guess- everything I’ve ordered from PIMAX has shipped pretty much when they set it would. They said 13-15 weeks for the headset, and I thought might be 13 months in Pimax speak… but again, they shipped it pretty much as promised. It’s on the way now, and Fed Ex just billed me for customs and taxes. It’s also, according to tracking, made it from Shanghai to Japan.
I’m hoping that this means they’ve got the shipping side of the business more or less figured out now.
Now I have to figure out how long I can put up with my nvidia 1080… I don’t want to rush into buying a new card until I see about the 3080TI and the Super Navi cards late next month. Nice problem to have though!

The 8KX still looks good at lower settings, due to the small pixels and lack of SDE. If possible, play games that don’t require parallel projection, which causes a ~30% fps reduction. Half-Life: Alyx would be a good choice. There are settings mentioned in this forum, which let you avoid PP. The game is well optimized, looks great, and is fun. Highly recommended and should play well on your 1080.

Please I hope so, I really want to see my HMD i ordered on day 1 sent to me, this thread is doing nothing but making me angrier each day.

If that october fesival hits before my hmd exits china i probably wont see it until november at this rate :frowning:

Perhaps you should go back and read what I said. I specifically said it created two avenues of shipment direct and from shanghai. I said some will arrive direct and some will arrive from a local origin. It can speed up shipments dramatically in some cases and allow for rapid RMA’s.

While i saw some preorders from July start receiving their order I am still waiting for my Upgrade Plan A. I really hope @PimaxQuorra can push my SO. Been waiting now since orering on 7th of January :frowning:

It is sad to see that preorders seem to be delivered before backers/upgrades. Even when some 8KX have already been delivered to germany.

Can ´ t wait to start playing with my Pimax 8KX. Looking desperatly for my 8KX Upgrade and the update on the delivery plan with current numbers :smiley:

Ah so your saying Californian residents will be charged that State’s sales tsx regardless of where it is shipped by instead of customs fees.

@drowhunter I share your sentiments. 30 Oct 2019 backer upgrade for me and no tracking info to date.

@PimaxUSA Rather than touting how the dysfunctional Support/Logistics clown act in the Pimax circus is supposed to work, how about actually doing something to fix it?

My brother, who is shopping for a VR headset, asked for my evaluation of Pimax. This is the most charitable description I could muster up: “A technologically innovative company that operates chaotically and displays little discernable ethics towards its customers.”

Or, more succinctly, if Pimax were a DnD character, it is a Chaotic Evil Wizard.

Ironically, my opinion would have been significantly more positive only three months ago. My brother is buying an Index. :neutral_face:

So I got a reply from Quorra on the Monday 21st that:

"Your 8KX order is now awaiting for the pick up, everything is fine right now.
You shall receive the tracking number shortly."

I then got an email on Wed 23rd and when I saw it I thought to myself “don’t get your hopes up, Pimax never deliver on promises”. Lo and behold, it was another email from Quorra saying:

"We have checked on the system, the tracking number is not generated yet, but the order is ready to go.
We are now awaiting for the pickup, our logistic team is scheduling it. The tracking number should be reveal by this week or coming week."

So it turns out “shortly” in Pimax speak is clearly not within the actual definition of the word “shortly” and actually means 1-2 weeks/months/years (delete as appropriate).

So last week was a bust despite the promises of “shortly”. I now find that they have another 1 week holiday from the middle of next week meaning if it isn’t shipped between Monday 28th and Wed 30th it will be another few more weeks. On top of that I have to read about people who ordered 8 months after me in June, who have their tracking already. I don’t begrudge those people getting theirs, just highlighting the shambles of Pimax’s own making.

Absolute shambles from Pimax. At the end of the day it is a Luxury item I don’t need but that does not mean I can’t have good rant about it.

Ironically, I ordered a cheap car key fob cover from China three weeks back that cost £8 including delivery. It arrived withing two weeks. So despite the efforts of Pimax to prove there is no functional postal service from China, it turns out there actually is. Who knew right!
