Sharp Image in OpenXR, Blurry in Sboys3

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice.

I’m using a Dream Air SLAM, and for the past two weeks I’ve been running it through the Pimax EVO using the Sboys3 driver and SteamVR. In DCS this gave me a noticeable performance boost — I was able to maintain a stable 90 FPS with very good image clarity.

My system:
AMD Ryzen 9 9850X3D
Nvidia RTX 5090
64 GB RAM

Yesterday I launched DCS again after not playing for about two days, and immediately noticed a drop in image quality. It looks as if the effective resolution has decreased. I didn’t change any settings at all. The only thing I did was update the Sboys driver to version 1.3.0‑beta1.

After rolling back to 1.3.0‑beta0, the image quality did not return to what it was before.

My question is:
Does the Sboys driver normally reduce the effective resolution in the headset and I simply didn’t notice it earlier? This seems unlikely to me, because the difference was obvious right away.

When I switch to OpenXR, the image is sharp again — but the FPS drops by roughly 10%.

Do you have any idea what could be causing this?

Disable open port and any openxr layers you might have installed. Then see if you can re-calibrate Eye tracking. Re-enable everything and see if that helps. I’ve had this problem whenever I update VectorXR. Dunno if it applies to your use case, but I exclusively use Sboys3 driver and won’t go back to anything else right now.
