Shanghai Surprise (Neoskynet Director's Cuts)

the 5K+ is said to be 9% sharper than the original 5K, that is what @Heliosurge is referring to.

but I think he’s right.

9% better of 80% screen usage would be 80 * 0.09 = 7.19999
-> ergo it has 87.2% screen usage. And not 89%.

Am I right?

I don’t recall claiming to speak for everyone. Maybe instead of mis characterising me you could thank me for stopping a huge piece of misinformation about the 8k panel usage from going any further.

yeah, an improvement of 9% would be 80% to 87.2%, you’re right

I don’t know why @Sjef doesn’t clear this up himself, and i may have missed some posts, but in my understanding he made It clear in his post that percentages in the Image were not accurate, as It was only a rough rappresentation of why the 8k panel is not optimally utilized. So it’s not him nor @neoskynet that persisted on the 50% figure. At most, other posters that took that pic out of context. That is, i repeat, if i haven’t missed other posts where they repeated the same number.

@Neoskynet cleared it up. 50% of full panel primary viewpoint. Peripheral is 30%. Total equals 80% pimax stated. :beers::sunglasses::+1::sparkles:

We’re all on mostly the same page.

Well basically all has been said and some asked to stop speculation until the testers can release their data, so I thought that sounded like a good plan. But basically I saw a photo that hasn’t leaked yet (and I won’t leak it) but basically it showed the visible part of the 4k’s diplay panel to be 50%. But it could be that the photo depicted only the ‘clearly’ visible part and that 30% outside of that can be seen, though (somewhat) blurry. We’ll know the 16th when @Neoskynet will present his findings. So until then I don’t think it makes much sense to keep speculating. Well people will keep on speculating of course, LOL, that’s all fine. Just saying that I don’t think I myself will be much part of that.

I think you’re absolutely right. It’s just been taken out of context.

It’s better to leave it there and keep talking and progressing from day 16.

Thank you very much @Sjef. I think it’s best to leave it there and keep talking from the 16th.

I’m glad to meet someone with such an open mind and as passionate about research and learning as I am.

And of course, we can be wrong, because we are human. But if our mistakes help us to progress, let us have a long life of mistakes.

As Edison said about the invention of the light bulb: “It wasn’t a thousand failed attempts, it was a thousand step invention.”

Uh no i didn’t take it out of context. He said he guessed the 5k plus , not the 8k figures. And even below goes on to say he took 50 percent from a leaked image known only to him. ( how does this keep happening ) .

Personally i wasn’t referring to you but to the people who took that 50% figure as a solid number. On the contrary, you rightly warned that that “50%” was not to be taken as a correct and accurate value.

We’ll talk in two weeks, if we’re allowed.

dont worry im sure it will all be leaked from tester forum long before then. Though why the leaker didn’t leak the images related to this first time round is something of a mystery in itself.

If you’re implying that it was any of us, I’ll be surprised, as I said. I don’t think any of us would be interested or dare to do something like that with others so close. We can draw attention to one point without having to filter anything. This has either been a single person very angry with Pimax and with very little empathy towards the backers, or a person or group looking for a situation like the one that has remained in the closed beta, a predictable and bad situation for us. I have my guesswork.

Let’s stay out of that rabbit hole implying implications. :beers::sunglasses::+1::sparkles:

No i’m not implying it was anyone in particular. it is who it is, and frankly, with a non https site it could be anyone.

However, previously the leaker held back on posting until after they had goaded someone they had trickled images to to post one , in order to point blame for the larger leak at them. They timed the leak to causes the maximum confusion and damage.

This issue would be a sole point of weakness left to cause issues through. And clearly they had images related to it ages ago if one of the images they were trickling was related to it, so now would be the ideal time to leak them to cause more panic, because there is almost no axis left for them to cause panic on.

I don’t think everyone would think of doing something like that.

Maybe the topic should be closed, and opened again the 16th? Or what do you think @Neoskynet ?

Your calculations are questionable. 80*1.09 = 87.2%

87.2 is 9% greater than 80.

[EDIT] And I read down further and see 3 other people already mentioned this. Sorry Helio

I did say approximately.
