No other choice that to remove this.
I checked again @SweViver video when he shows how to remove them and thanks to him for this but they are actually glued and some glue on the edges can peel off and stick somewhere we dont want on the lenses.
So, have to be carefull when removing the lenses and it doesnt come that easy at least for the 1rst time !
And as you can see on the second picture, a wonderful (it really bugs me, I could remove the lens again just to see this, since I noticed it later on picture) optical effect that make my sucion cup mostly…invisible !
Yeah the vive lenses also have a certain amount of glue, when I did the gear vr lens mod on both of my Vivers I experienced this but it was very trace amounts holding the lenses in place and there really was no risk of glue residue falling on the lens. Made my experience with the Vive so much better.
thanks @Ludiks for the heads up and warning though for anyone who may consider removing the lenses in the future, they should be careful.
@Ludiks do you think the dust was already there or did it get in recently?
While the lens was removed, you should have taken pictures of the screens pixels!
Make sure you clean the lenses with some good soap, because the glue is very sticky and if it has touched the lenses it’s difficult to remove. So be careful
I believe some vive hmds had less adhesive than others as suggested by others who did the gear vr lens mod. Some had more difficulty than others with the removal process as you can see in certain videos. Both of mine had trace amounts of adhesive , maybe they used less depending on line. But yeah the gear vr lens mod was the best improvement I ever made to my vives accept maybe the essential DAS that I also used on both. one now of which is attached to my Pimax 8K.
