Have updated someone recently with 8k but hardto say how long they have had it.
Raised two bugs within the first look. Lots of idle CPU usage from the services for no good reason and it is doubly worse if the headset is on as it constantly renders a 3D world and consumes GPU. Stops the entire machine returning to idle which is definitely not good for the planet nor smoothness of the desktop.
The second is that objects disappear on the periphery on the right handside which is immensely distracting. The culling seems to be a bit aggressive there and the movement in your vision immediately breaks immersion.
Also first run in I had a bunch of stuttering, not sure if that is going to continue but 30 seconds in there and I am taking a nausea break. Not a good start.

Ah okay. Goto Pitool & turn off pihome. It’s a unity environments that atm only consumes resources.
Depending on title Parallel projections on may fix.

rushed home to pick up my 5k+ and i now have it! However first impressions are pretty mixed, theres a lot more distortion than i was expecting, the world moves massively with my head when it moves and it is so uncomfortable. as far as i can tell theres no cushion for your nose at all.

Hey man, if you have any other vive thick face pad then line these up on top of the Pimax one to give yourself a bit more separation from the lenses, this at least helps with the nose and reduced massively the edge distortion for me. Still had things popping in and out at the edge but much more comfortable.

Have disable pihome already one of the first things I did, is still consuming CPU.
Likewise there is obvious edge distortion at the sides and top/bottom. The clarity looked impressive but then the stuttering and distortions had me nauseous so definitely not a good start. I have moved it about a bunch but not clear where the right spot is yet. Need to recover first so I can check the screens pixels are all good.

Weird. You might need to restart pitool. In taskmanager I believe it shows up as a unity program.

Some find it needs thicker foam(many). You will get a mild geo warping distortion near the peripheral (see @Sjef review)
Woohoo - my 5K+ arrived about an hour ago. Working from home today - win.
Initial impression - one word - epic.
I’m coming from an OG Vive with TP cast. Setup a total breeze, worked first time. Picked up basestations and controllers straight away. I’m using pitool .91
Screens look fine, no dead pixels. No fireworks, but only tested for 30 mins.
Fired up beat saber, meh (prob the worse game to fire up first)
Fired up Skyrim - OMG, it’s truly stunning. So, so clear (seems clearer/less SDE than my oculus go), colours are a little less vibrant, but totally fine imho.
I had planned on just using the basic pimax strap and my sennheiser 650’s and leaving the DAS on the vive. It’s a modded DAS to work better with tpcast, no way I can swap between the 2 easily.
Man - the pimax strap is pants. Maybe I need to rethink and buy another DAS. Does the orig vive strap fit?
I did try large FOV, not a fan of the distortions, will stick to normal for now.
I also need to sort out some sort of cable management system, it’s painful going back to wires

Congrats! If you want a cheapy option checkout my poorman’s in the 5k 8k Directory. Works well & under $30.

I think my problem is that my IPD is smaller than the minimum, it seems its only possible to get one eye at a time in focus which makes it look off the whole time.
What is your ipd?..
