I tried it with my normal vive. The fov test ends up between 90 and 100 degrees. Around where the mark is for the rift…
110 degrees? How? I have the screen closest to my face and the 6mm vrcover. I’m not even close to 110.

Have you tried the very last version https://knob2001.itch.io/test-fov-rv-testsglare-readbility-lens ?
There is a little tolerance error if you tried to do it by hand. That’s why on this last version the system will lock your vision & position. You’ll be right at the center (0z,0y,0x) and 0º rotational at each axis, so the result will be as perfect as it could be.
Same on the Lenovo Explorer WMR headset, barely over 90 degrees with headset firmly pressed over the face.
I will try the latest version thanks.
I feel like the 110° fov those headset manufacturing companies claim is wildly exaggerated…
Maybe if you press your eyeballs against the lenses or something??
@ChrisVL Yes, it makes some difference and you can barely see the 100’ bars like a ghost image at the borders, but realistically it should not count like a real 100’ FOV…people with an IPD close to the headset minimum will probably enjoy a slightly wider FOV than 90’
Perhaps someone with around 62 IPD could tell us, anyone ?..
I have 63 and i used to put it lower before i measured my ipd… I doubt it makes much difference.
I always believed vive and rift to be 110, now i measured it I’m very disappointed.
It is very possible that even with the Pimax 8K will turn out to be 170-180 with this tool, but who cares ? It will still be the widest FOV headset on the market.
At least companies will be pushed to give more realistic FOV numbers instead of merketing hype.
Yeah Oculus marketing may say 110 degrees but in the latest F8 talks where they discuss the new stuff they’re working on (140 degree FOV) they actually state ‘compared to current 90-100 degree hmds’.
I tried the v3 and if the human eye has a 220 degree fov then this complies with my experience of seeing just a minor black bar at the ends of the screen with 200fov. It looks small enough for me to call it just 10 degrees but this is just based on my opinion.
Beta version for Oculus GO/Gearvr (apk file): MEGA
90º & 90º degrees FOV.
has anyone made something like this video but also comparing it to how a vive’s FOV is…? Pimax 8K quick FoV & Reading test with RealOVirtual FoV Test (Eng) (Update in description) - YouTube
