Quick question.How/when does pimax take your prescription lens details?

How/when does pimax take your prescription lens details? Is it taken during the pledge process. If not when. Asking as i need to mail an optician to get my correct details but dont know if i will have them back in post by end of kickstarter.

Hi we will put a VR frame in your KS packages.
You may customize your own glasses for the best fit.

in other words Pimax deliver only frame without lenses inside

Ok nevermind, the KS page does say “VR frame”.

So there is glass in them but just not shaped yet and we need an optrician to do that for us ourselves?

It was say since the beginning that’s the frame only. It comes as a combo with the fan.
Look some website to see how it cost for vive for exemple to understand that it’s still a " not so bad " gift.

better quality lenses you will get from your regional optictian than VR Lens Lab shop… I read diffrent opinions.

ah apologies, i misunderstood the reward

there will be a glass inside, it makes easier for your local optical store to customize based on the shape.

ah thats perfect. thank you

Actually, the top of the campaign page says “customized prescription VR frame”. This is why so many people are confused. They are saying it’s just the frame in the comments and forum but the campaign page says they say are customized; they are not! It’s customizable, not customized already.

@deletedpimaxrep1 It should be updated to say “frame for prescription lenses”.

The frame is customized for the HMD. When I see an ad for a customized “Frame” … I’m not sure why anyone would think it would include the customized lens as well.

Because it is called a customised prescription frame. When you get glasses, the lenses are your prescription, not the frames. So seeing the word prescription made me think they would take your details and pop in cheap +1 +1.25 etc lenses as desired.

I think pimax would really benefit from getting a few people on staff temporarily whos first language is english, german etc, and second language is Chinese, in order to bridge the language gap fully and prevent misuderstandings.

It’s a classic case of a misplaced modifier. It’s “customized prescription” not “customized frame”. Most native english speakers have occasional trouble with misplaced modifiers so they’re pretty common for non native speakers as is the case here. Using the exact same words, we can reduce ambiguity in the sentence by writing it as “VR-Customized Prescription Frame”. Here the customization is applied to the frame for VR rather than the prescription. However, since customization for the headset is implicit as it’s an addon for it, saying so is redundant and could still result in confusion.

Agreed. I read all their comments and I really struggle to understand some of them. If they put out a call for writers/marketers I would have gladly volunteered my time to work with their translator to help support the campaign.

That’s something I really don’t understand about Pimax but also other Chinese companies in general. Get your spelling and grammar checked, you’re losing so much trust.

I’ve purchased 3 different RX inserts for my headsets and they have all been top quality and a great price. I would trust them over some local provider. Very happy with their service.

What a nonsense, no one is losing trust to someone if he simply don’t understand written text or there is lack of information. I doubt many people had great hopes on that frame and now when it’s clarified they will cancel their orders as they hoped so much for something different because the name was misspealing due to language barrier :poop:

I have a doubt. If anyone can clarify me, thank you. I wear glasses. Actually two. One to see up close and another to be able to see far away. I do not know how to explain this better in English. In these virtual reality headsets which of these would be the best to use.
