I wanted to share a project I’ve been building. If you’ve tried playing Nuclear Option in VR using generic injectors like UUVR, you know what a massive pain it is to get a stable, playable camera every single session.
I’ve built a dedicated, fully functional 6DOF VR implementation for the game that completely bypasses those clunky workarounds. Flight sims are meant to be played in a headset, and Nuclear Option feels incredible when you’re actually sitting inside the cockpit.
The mod is running smooth, but my ultimate goal is to add true HMCS style eye tracked target aquisition and native DFR using the OpenXR gaze extensions. Being able to lock a target by literally just glancing out the canopy would be insane in this game.
I’m currently hitting a roadblock because I don’t actually own a headset with eye tracking hardware which makes testing pretty difficult. If anyone knows any way to test it, that’d be great to hear about.
Mate, you just have the game developer a potential sale. The lack of VR was holding me back, I’ll test this and if it works for me like in your video (I have a Crystal light) there won’t be a need for a refund.
Hello, I’m thrilled by this news and I haven’t tried this game yet (I love flight games). I’m a French content creator and I have a channel dedicated to Pimax headsets (PURE VR). I currently own the Pimax Dream Air Slam, which I use to test several games. I’d be delighted to try the game and the UEVR mod. If the mod is available, I’ll buy the game and make videos about it. Thank you for your work; you have our support.
Thank you for the kind words! Please note that UEVR is something else entirely though. The mod is currently available as a release on the github page and is ready to go. Countless players are already using it
@DeltaWing Is there a way to recenter the view while in flight? Also The standard UI is nearly unusable when trying things like calibration of Joysticks When in VR at least with the Pimax CL as the mouse cursor doesn’t match whats indicated on the (flat) screen since you can’t use the default UI when in VR. Or is it something I’m missing within the settings?
There should be a green circle projected in VR space, that’s your VR cursor. It doesn’t correspond 1:1 with the real cursor, but it should be more than useable
That works fine within the UI that you have made for it, however when trying to do this with the default Nuclear Option menu (to calibrate axis if needed) I have to default to the flat screen and only a regular mouse caret is available that doesn’t correspond to what you’re aiming at. I hope that makes sense.
Hi and thanks for your work! I just made a video of the game on my channel and I took the liberty of mentioning you with a link that will direct people interested in your work. I played Nuclear Option for a while and it’s excellent too. I was wondering if there are different difficulty levels for the game? Thanks.
I’m definitely doing something wrong because it’s nigh unplayable for me. Can’t center my gaze in the cockpit, it will often float away, same with the UI. Sometimes it will appear 30 feet below me. I can see it but can’t interact with it.
