Plans for full Linux and SteamOS support?

Hey all,

Again today the news the latest Microslop security updates are causing black screens with nVidia GPU’s.

I’m getting soooo fed up with all of that garbage and guessing I’m not the only one.

Pimax, I’m on my knees and begging you, please arrange full support on Linux/SteamOS…. That is…. if you are not already working on it?

@PimaxQuorra can explain better. But iirc I think they will be looking into it sometime maybe late this year. But can’t really say if that would mean something workable would be released this year. Only time will tell as roadmaps may change as things develop. Though I imagine with Valve’s more recent push may help

Linux support is on our roadmap for this year, but it won’t be ready in Q1 or Q2.

That is for sure good news and sounds like music to my ears at least

Certainly is better than a flat out “No” or crickets and tumbleweed! :+1:

This would be great, enabling hopefully my 8KX with Linux, beyond any hacks.

Especially since Windows 11 rollout.

Noticing how Star Citizen got quick support and some collaboration from PiMax to get VR into that game…

What are the likely chances that PiMax could talk to say Canonical, Fedora, or Valve and drum up some interest? Do you think those any of those companies would “take the ball and run with it”?

I kind of think PiMax would score some extra “brownie points” from the Linux users if they did that (hint, hint)…

Hmmm, low chances maybe?

Awh, cmon man… Havago! :face_blowing_a_kiss:

Difficult to say as a DeV did try the get them to talk to iirc Monado

https://monado.dev/

But at that time Pimax didn’t seem interested. Often Pimax seems resistant to different help
