Pimax VR Experience Open Beta 0.50 - Releasing Now!

@SweViver @arminelec

I was curious if there was a way to bypass the steamvr home to avoid having to start and stop steamvr every time we wanna go back to the pimax experience to swap to a new game. Perhaps this is already possible and I havent figured it out yet but it would make it alot easier if whenever you exited a game you were right back in the pimax experience and not the steamvr home room for example.

I believe you should be able to as with Normal Steam games you can launch them without steam overlay.

how do you
do this? 202020

Still looking.

I did find Opencomposite which is kind of like a reverse ReVive of sorts.

@neelrocker posted about it quite sometime ago

So I got a new bug today with Pimax Experience. Normally id be able to start games from pimax experience but I got an error every time i tried today. Had to go into the steam vr home to start games. Only thing ive changed since yesterday was added the line of code to prevent steamvr from starting when the index controllers are turned on.

Mine was doing the same. I resorted to launching my games from SteamVR and decided to wait for the new version.

You can avoid SteamVR home if you disable SteamVR Home in the SteamVR Settings.
But if you do so, SteamVR will still not automatically quit if you exit the game. You will just end up in an empty space in SteamVR with the dashboard. So yeah… at this point you still need to “Quit VR” from SteamVR, unless SteamVR introduces some new way of auto-closing (which I doubt they will because that would in fact power off the Valve Index headset).

Wow thats interesting, Im gonna look into this, thanks Don!

You mean Dan :thinking::wink:

Real credit belongs to @neelrocker whom first posted it.

Viveport still uses part of Steamvr without steam I believe in an OpenVR? Thing.

I am wondering if a script could be used to kill steamvr on game exit.

Oh of course :slight_smile: Sorry!

Yep, its only using SteamVR as far as I can tell.

Sure, but we havent figured out how to actually call that script (upon exiting a game in VR) :thinking:

Do we install in via PiTools? has the little extra step been taking out (something about checking install latter)

This version comes as a standalone installer. If you already have the PiTool version 1.0.2.084 installed, then you just run the Pimax VR Experience installer and all will start automatically. If you dont have PiTool installed, then install it first, and then run the provided 0.60 Pimax VR Experience installer
