Pimax trade in program for 12k, how's going to work?

I’m hearing now that its a return program. It says trade-in on pimax.com

yea, i’m actually thinking that this could be the way they meant; wondering if they are willing to pay the import tax when we’ll send our vr 2.0

It’s a smart move from Pimax, people who badly want the new headset can invest now and use a 8kx one year for free. There is a risk though as we have only seen awesome ideas and 3d renderings, and what if Pimax can’t reach the deadlines again?
Unfortunatly i had to sell my 8kx, i had a problem with the optics and the tiny sweetspot, that i didn’t have with my 8k

??? Oh oh, just don’t try the g2 :joy:

yes i have the G2 the sweetspot is much better for me. Maybe i had a faulty unit from pimax i don’t now. But i like the G2 very much

That’s unusual. Actually, he’s smaller in the G2. Well, who knows, different eyes, different head shape, too many factors.

yea, this is why we need that damn IPD adjustment, without it the pimax can’t reach 100% of it’s potential

Maybe they’re giving us this “deal” because they know that the 8kx and the previus models aren’t made with the a well working ipd adjustment, so to mitigate our desire for this damn ipd calibration software, they’re giving us this opportunity to get rid of this hardware…

My question is: how this 12k will be for my nose? are the lenses still a problem for the nose when wearing?

Will be interesting how this will/can work.

Does Pimax have a database with original paying price to HMD serial number mapping? If yes then both original and used purchases could be considered easily.

Or do they just have a customer to purchase price mapping? Then probably (only) the original customer could get a coupon (unless a used buyer can prove the entire chain back to an original customer).

Or they drop that “original price” constraint and define fixed discounts for 8kX, 5k+ etc.?

Whatever they do, I just hope that Pimax won’t collect the old headsets just to shred them all.
That wouldn’t be very sustainable…

well, I found a good result with the grid test after adjusting for about half an hour.
So it works.

by presenting your invoice

So original purchasers only then?

we still don’t know, it says trade-in so we expect some sort of trading, but should also be that pimax is thanking all the supporters without getting anything in return… if this is the case, they’re pretty confident about their new vr 3.0

you also mean the people who have sold their HMDs immediately at a profit for near the final price? :joy:

Pay $ 700, collect 1800, and get new hardware for halfprice a lifetime. good idea

ok now we’re going to the dark zone; “think” the best way for them is asking both invoice and a proof that you STILL have the hmd, i hope this is the way instead of sending back the hmd to pimax and waiting for the 12k that we don’t know for sure that will be getting in q4 2022

That should be not too difficult. Send in a not cashed-in-yet serial number and an “ownership code” that a small tool computes that queries the plugged in HMD.

Can I ask what your IPD is?

My experience was the exact opposite

Same here. Imho the G2 is great but the sweetspot is smaller than for the 8kX for me, have to make sure it sits exactly as it should to see sharp.

I’m lucky I save my receipts. Because conveniently the pimax store is missing all history of orders prior to 2021

ugh… doesn’t make things easier…

You know what?

maybe lower ipd guys have better sweet spot on smaller lenses, and large ipd guy have larger sweetspot on larger lenses?
