@SweViver
I upgraded using Plan C for the 8K+ without DMAS and opting out of all stretch goals which cost $699.
The 8K+ was $999 but is now on the store excluding MAS for $899 so could you tell me what I get for the extra $100.

That sounds (pardon the pun) that it will be all right because with headphones on the 5K+ it is perfectly loud enough so I would assume the KDMAS would be loud enough.
I understand now why a more powerful solution is required for the SMAS because it is above the ear. Wonder why you would require that for the DMAS though unless you are hard of hearing. lol
EDIT: They are all comparable in quality on balance, so nevermind me. Iād just get the best that my headset is compatible with.
So I wonder why you would need KDMAS and DMAS variations. For the SMAS itās above ear but surely the KDMAS speakers would be perfectly fine for DMAS compatible headsets.
Sounds good to me SweViver I donāt mind waiting a little more then.
Very good work on that Pimax VR Experience software!
First of all I donāt think thatās true. Helio doesnāt mention distortion very much. In his 21,100 forum posts (!! haha), he only mentioned distortion in 87 of them.
I think the whole distortion subject became of interest lately again when the StarVR came out and proofed that itās very well possible to create a distortion free image over an even wider FoV than the pimaxās FoV. And then to make things even more interesting, the creator of that headset, @lionel came to this forum and said that itās actually not difficult at all to fix. So yeah of course people who hate the distortion in Pimax got hopeful again that we too can one day enjoy wide FoV with high resolution without distortion and that Pimax would make a deal with him.
But it seems thereās no interest from Pimax at all. Itās too bad, Iād certainly pay a couple of hundred dollars extra for a distortion solution.
This is where you need to measure those whom like yourself I believe said you had difficulties using the 5k. For you the 8kX made a world of difference. However your one person.
More folks in this boat like @geoffvader is the metric you need to measure. With good fortune they will have the vastly improved experience. However we also have some whom have the 5k+ that say they havenāt seen any significant improvement in the 8k+.
Even 5% is nothing to dismiss in Manufacturing this is considered unacceptable ppm in defect rates. Now Asus used to have less than a 1% failure rate on motherboards(not sure if this metric holds true anymore).
I have one more question about the audio straps. Are they all going to be blue?
If I get the KDMAS for my 5K+ and itās blue it will look strange with my black headset.
I was not clear enough, but I know others are in my situation:
Therefore, I need to cancel my DMAS order and get my $100 back.
I think thatās as clear as I can make it. If others are in the same situation Iām sure theyād like to know what steps are needed to achieve this.
I started with the Rift, Then Moved over to the Rift S. So far I love my 8K+ except for the temp headgear that came with it. I have never had any other VR gear. Is there a big improvement with sound if I just go with the SMAS or just a little or about the same. If I do not get hand or eye tracking then I would be able to go with the DMAS. I play a lot of X plane and puzzle type games. Maybe do without Eye Tracking or ?? would love to here from anyone that has used the SMAS and/or DMAS and/or The Oculus VRs. Have the RTX 2070 Super.
Any chance to get those cups for my 2 8K Xās DMAS ? if they fit the speakers of the DMAS that is
i have been using cybershoes with my steam VR games⦠so iām interested in if there will be a problem with that when the game are launched from the upcoming Pimax VR experience?
i actually have the same question for oculus games launched from VR experience ?
It shouldnāt be any different than launching a game (SteamVR or Oculus) from within the āGamesā tab in PiTool as far as I understand.
Indeed Pimax experience will likely also be an optional launch method. Just using VR interface opposed tp a desktop one.
ok⦠have newer realy used that option except for oculus games that i enden up launching throug Reviver instead. as PiTool was missing the border grid at the time (this was before i begang experimenting with cybershoes)
with cybershoes ii did always launch steamVR from PiTool and then stat the game (after checking that cybershoes was connected.)
I guess i will have to chek if the other methods works when i get my new VR room up and running
I have just moved so have to paint some walls and put in a new floor and so on before i can unpack my VR gear
but it will be greate when iām done
You can try foam tiles as a perimeter You can feelā¦
Theyāre pretty cheap at Biltemaā¦
Or You could use something like this one-piece work mat in the middle of the play area:
https://autofix.nu/produkter/1138-bagagerumsgummimaatter-universale/47515-arbejdsmaatte---l-236-x-b-117-cm---tykkelse-7-mm/
Yeah, boring work but something to look forward toā¦
I just use my cybershoes floor mat, it has basically the exact same diameter as the blue Steam floor circle and I can feel the edges with my feet
The VR Experience uses the same way of launching SteamVR games, Oculus games and imported games just like PiTool Launcher does, and its already working 100% as of now. There are 3 ways of launching games, and my simple script detects what what is necessary.
Hey @SweViver, I absolutely love your VRE project.
Am I correct when I think itās basically a virtual shell that uses pitool for all the settings?
I saw in the demo that it sits in the (ugly, sorry) Pimax rocky planet. Would it be possible to get it working in steam too?
For instance I have settings for my Cybershoes there too.
And something completely arbitrary but also something I would love to see: super high def menu items, design and background for showcasing the difference the 8KX makes compared to other headsets.
I wonder if there would be any performance hits. I have read in the boards over the last year that some people say not to have Pitools running as that is using more resources along with Steam
Now we would have Pitool, Pimax Experience and SteamVR and Steam.
Also there was the recommendation to turn Steam Home (rocky planet) off for resource reasons but that would be how the Pimax Experience would work I would think.
It is hard to say. Depending on how @SweViver has it coded. It could completely exit the unity environment after launching the title and reload the launcher unity environment. Just depends on how the script for the launcher works.
As for environments it is possible that maybe like steam homeVR might be madw customizable option
Marcin would be the best one to ask as he has been DeVeloping this Unity based Launcher.
