Pimax Now Event Discussion (merged)

So are there many people who have ordered 8KX. I just increased my bank purchase limit to be enough and I am so close pressing ‘order’ to finish the order. Something is still holding me back.

Is there a distortion problems anymore? Is there a way to get money back if something goes wrong with Pimax delivery? All the delays and such got me worried. Big FOV and big resolution is something I want so much to experience Bone Works, Skyrim, etc.

Please, give me some information about the current situation and delivery dates. Gonna decide later tonight if I finish the order.

Navi_8K was replying to me there so that’s why I replied to him.

I still think it should be the other way around but it is a good job overall.
I just feel that Pimax keeps trying to push new products instead of finishing what they promised to customers of their ‘older’ products that have been waiting this whole time, judging by these boards, some a very long time.
They should finish everything they promised people for their current headsets, then go on and design new headsets and accessories.

Thanks for your reply. Does this mean that the speakers in the KDMAS are not as good, or loud as the SMAS and DMAS? If the latter were the best that could be achieved then the speakers in the KDMAS must be inferior or it would have been used for them all right?

Improve existing products is not the same thing as making new products.
Pimax team, including the main ppl like Robin, are VR enthusiasts theselves, and all we want is a great experience, for a reasonable price without cheaping out on the quality. Thats why we kept making improvements instead of going public with development kits. Its not just about selling the product. Its about making people happy owning the product as well. And nothing is done over a day, especially with so limited manpower and resources compared to big brands.

On Distortion no one can give a real clear answer on this as it will vary from one user to the next. What can maybe said is that a vast number to the majority will likely not either see or be bothered by Distortion. Therw are simply too many factors to say whether you will be affected by it or not.

Other parts of your concerns would require a team member.

OK but how can people be happy owning the product if all the things promised for that product are delayed for years because Pimax are too busy designing a new product and then abandoning the old one and designing all the accessories for the new one?
Surely we could have had the Audio strap, eye tracking, hand tracking, comfort kit, controllers, etc a lot sooner if Pimax concentrated on them instead of using the limited manpower and resources they have to design new headsets.

My product is now obsolete before I even got anything to use with it to improve the experience. I can’t afford to upgrade headsets so I am stuck.

I may be way out of line here but that’s how I feel about it.

A couple of thousands pre-orders so far. With the production scaling up so quickly as it does right now (approx 600 units in july) we expect not to have have much backlog by September. We have 2 factories which are put into full throttle now. Making a pre-order today does NOT mean you will wait for ages. Not anymore.

Ive said it many times, but visible distortion is an issue VERY FEW poeple actually have. I would say less than 5% even notice any. Barely anyone I have met can see them, and thats many hundreds of people from all over the world and all continents over the past year. Both enthusiasts, beginners, pilots, doctors, opticians (yes Im not kidding we visited a clinic in Germany that is highly interested in buying 8KXs and eye tracking for their research), US military bosses, VR Arcade owners, developers and even companies like Apple have tested our products in front of me. Basically NONE of these saw distortions, or complained over any eye strain. That tells a lot. What MRTV says on the other hand…

The only thing we “abandoned” until now are the cooling fans and tooling our own perscription lens adapters. Nothing else as far as I remember.

We will know soon enough as those whom had complaints of distortion in their 5k+ models/loaners have the desired result. We do have a mix of folks that have the 8k+ on both sides of the distortion fence. So not just MRTV.

Anything short of “cancel the DMAS order” would be unacceptable to me. Why would I spend $100 on a headstrap I can’t even use?

What about lighthouses then? Will Pimax develop their own somewhere down the line?

Of course, and I look forward to that. MRTV is just an example of one single person making a unreasonable amount of worry among people out there. I prefer seeing the big picture, what the masses say and experience.

Valve owns the LH2.0 tech. We cant do our own, as far as I know.

We will not cancel orders, thats for sure. If you ordered a MAS, you will get one that works with your HMD, although it might be an upgraded KDMAS instead of a SMAS, which is not so bad after all?

Owners of ‘older’ products may start to feel abandoned. They have to wait even longer than the years they have already waited for something because the new customers and new headsets take priority.

And would you say those with the 8k+ that see distortions are also making unreasonable worry? MRTV said if your not bothered by it in earlier pimax headsets you will have no problem with the X which is fair. The 8kX and 8k+ could very well have a greater reduction to distortion however depending on the individual’s sensitivity could be quite bothersome.

I can understand people being wary due to the price of admission. This is where we really need more places Like “The MRTV Experience” where folks can try out headsets prior to purchase.

Absolutely. And you know what? Why dont you go into any random Smartphone-forum and look for posts about Samsung S20. Now… do this:

  • Count the number of complaining posts that includes broken phones, display problems and warranty issues
  • Count the number of posts happy S20 owners are posting happy post about their great experience with their S20.

Now… How many of these post were complaints? Probably 70%, right?

  • Does this mean 70% of all Samsung S20 are faulty?
  • Does this mean only 30% of all S20 users are happy with the unit?
  • Does this mean only 30% dont see the problems with their S20?

… Or does this simply mean, people only post when they NEED to. When they have a problem?

Give it a thought please, mister @Heliosurge

I think you need to be more neutral. Plus for me Samsung would not be a good example as I had long ago stopped buying their phones due to my experiences and numerous friends experiences.

You ignored the whole point using statistics is no substitute for a hands on trial. After all 2 out of 3 people prefer Coke over Pepsi and vice versa.

I honestly think you should go the YouTube way and make daily videos about distortion. You seem very keen to advocate that.

Meanwhile, the 95% rest of us, keeps enjoying whats already being shipped to our doorsteps.

Personally, I dont really understand what you are trying to achieve here in this forum, especially as a host or moderator, by “predicting” that every single person will have problems with their Pimax.

It just doesnt make any sense to me. Honestly. Whats the point?
