Been asking about this in other channels for a while.
They desktoo view is useless because if you simply want to use a real mouse you cannot see the cursor.
I do not want to have to turn on the controllers and lay them somewhere just to use windows.
Also if you can make it so that I can see the UAC prompts and interact with them that is also important.
If you are sim racing, you may know tool called Crew Chief. I personally added keyboard togleable Desktop overlay to it, specifically because of frustration you expressed (SteamVR Desktop viewer also requires controllers …). And now, with Steam VR getting 32bit OpenXR, I can use it again. UAC is trickier, because Windows might be interfering, and app that captures things may neeed to run elevated too (funny I never had to elevate in VR ever). But, yes, Desktop overlay is keyboard/controller togleable in CC and no need for other tools to get that.
I also added a “no game” mode to CC, so it can be used for this purpose even without racing game.
For elevation, you could have elevated powershell/cmd prompt, and run things from there, to avoid UAC in VR.
I also wish they would create an option to show / hide the windows desktop with the double-tapping on the side of the headrest.
It would be great to have the desktop appear inside the headset when double-tapping the headset to be able to change settings on desktop applications and then hide it again with another double-tap, instead of having to remove the headset to look at my monitor.
I told PimaxQuorra about this, but at the time I was on 1.43.9 and he said it would be passed on the devs.
I upgraded to 1.44.1 earlier (1.44.2 is also there with a hotfix), and the mouse cursor works 100% now. I’m typing this via Pimax Desktop
