Hi Starraker,
I haven’t got around to installing springs yet. Actually the unit is working well at the moment and so I’ll just stick to it as it is for now.
The fibre washers I used worked out to about 2mm thick when three were stacked. This worked out to be about right for my vision. I seemed to have fluked it first time. However I do wonder if I it were possible to adjust it a bit further so I don’t need to wear glasses at all.
I suspect it is possible to go too far and narrow the field of view even further.
You will need to get longer screws to hold the lens holders in place as the ones belonging to the lenses will be too short when the spacers are used.
The screws that attach the face bezel are about the right length.
Don’t forget. Don’t power the unit up before you put it back together again. Some have triggered a security lockout by doing that.
I ran into a snag there are no discernible screws in the case of my 102 HMD so I thought that I would pause a while to see if an optical solution exits - refer to the Heliosurge and CReDo advice.
I will let you know if the company will make lenses for PiMax 4K. As they make for most of the other I cannot see why they would not - especially as the Vive lenses are so alike.
VR Frame is narrower compared to regular glasses but we never try them on the headset model that you mentioned, so we can’t tell if they can perfectly fit into your headset."
They have not precluded lens manufacture for PiMax 4K in future but nor have they said they would.
So the LukeB suggestion is still the best (barring a reply from PiMax support). Does anybody have instructions on how to get the 102 series HMD body apart with destroying things - I have only seen the video on the 100 series (with screws)?
I had actually mentioned this company in the past and found that they only make correction lenses for Oculus and Vive headsets.
I had asked if they would be interested in also making some for Pimax4K but they were not interested. They have put all their eggs in the Oculus Vive baskets.
They don’t strike me as a very smart or progressive company ignoring the larger part of the vr market from Chinese manufacturers.
I had also mentioned this company to Pimax support but never got any reply from them.
I’m getting the feeling that Pimax still does not appreciate the importance of including mechanical focus in their units as I have never seen any mention of this in any of their posts.
@Heliosurge@LukeB Yes, I noted you guys’ discussion and good suggestion. As you know, this issue refers hardware and new moduel, so I can not give out a positive reply for you guys until hardware engineers tell me a further progress But I will continue to follow it.
Well it looks the same as mine.
Are you sure there are no screws that keep the face rubber surround (pic 1) onto the body?
You have to force the rubber out of the way to see them.
I got this video from Pimax support several months ago and I decided to put it onto YouTube so others may see it as well if needed.
It was a help to me before I tried to take my Pimax apart.
Your video comes up as private and will not let me play it.
I explored further but my rubber face mask is Velcro’ed on to some very hard plastic hook material and with considerable force I was able to lift the hard plastic in one place in the area half way between both eye pieces but this revealed no screws. This model is really well built and has the appearance of being glued together.
There might be screws there but they are well hidden
I tried and it died. I just converted a working display into a one eyed non working HMD.
I still have the blue light on top but only the right eye is showing any life. Unless the debug fixes such things (because I cannot read Chinese) the PiMax 4K has gone to the happy hunting ground.
