Micro oled optical engine

I’m a little confused, is there any difference between the micro oled 8K optical engine that is part of the Pimax Crystal Super 8K micro OLED and the micro oled optical engine 32 ppd for the Crystal Super that is sold separately as a module. In some places in the pimax store I read: Pimax Crystal Super 8K OLED, in other places: Micro OLED optical engine 53ppd. what is what. are they the same?

There’s only one micro-OLED optical engine for the Super (the Sony panel and 53PPD)

Thanks for the answer.
Then I see the resolutions 3840 x 3552 which I calculate is 4K. Why does it say PimaxStore 8K? is it because they calculate 4 K for each eye?

Yes, Pimax labels it “8K” because the combined horizontal resolution across both eyes is 7680 pixels (3840 × 2), matching true 8K UHD’s width (7680 × 4320).

Thank you very much for the quick reply. Looking forward to getting the micro OLED optical engine for my Crystal Super. Is it in full production? Does anyone know when it will come to Norway? (Via Agent in this country, mind you).

There are a few bugs we’ve been working through, along with some ongoing optimizations.

If it’s coming through a third-party distributor, my best estimate would be around February 2026.

Thank you very much, I’ll be waiting for it.

So, is that estimate only related to the shipment of micro oled optical engine, or shipment of the whole super 8k mOled headset as well? I ask because i placed an order on november 14th for a micro oled set, but if there’s no chance to get it by christmas i just might downgrade to a super and get the optical engine later on

It affects the whole headset.
In your case, you may need to switch your order to a different optical engine.

Ah, ok! Thank you very much for the reply
