Just to confirm if your usung msi afterburner or similar software have you tried disabling it? As sone users though not all have found this may work to at least reduce this issue. Pimax and Nvidia are currently looking into it.
Yes. I tried to disable AB and FPS VR. No any changes. The big lag is still here.
alright ima throw my 2 cents in. i am using an rtx 4090 airo and i am getting noticeably more lag than I did with my 3090. the fps is way higher than my 3090 was, but everything feels in slow motion. like when i move my head around its very smooth but not in time with my movements. any ideas whats goin on? im on a pimax 5k super.
Nvidia Architecture change issues. Nvidia has finally acknowledged this issue. Pimax and Nvidia are working on it. Varjo had to release a new firmware firmware to even get the 4090 to work with there hmds; not sure if Varjo’s fix is a temp one or final. As Nvidia is also looking into there end it looks like maybe a fix will likely come in terms of a gpu driver fix in part and likely pimax will need to make adjustments on there end as well.
The 4090 has had issues on other high res hmds like the Vive Pro2.
That’s great to finally hear. I agree other Headsets have had issues but there the headset manufacturers provided the fix I think? Glad y’all have acknowledged it both sides. I upgraded to a 4090 to push Elite Dangerous but it’s totally unplayable right now
I have an 8KX + 4090 + 13900K now.
@TonytotheB,
That’s strange I have an 8kx (not the newest) and my system is a RTX4090 Gainwarth Phantom and a
intel I7 12700K. ( MSI 690 Edge MoBo)
Elite Dangerous is working very, very well, all set to Ultra.
What version headset do you use ?
Then I am very happy for you… but I am not the only one with issues. I have an older headset that needed firmware to achieve 90Hz. There is a lag / weird stutter, which is what quite a few folks have experienced and reported on. Un fortunately I notice it in ED and other games like HFAlyx.
This is specifically caused by Nvidia and has. affected other hi res hmds. Both Nvidia & pimax are working onit
When You steam vr reso setting is auto steam add you 16k reso and ED work 6-10fps, i was same problem, set manual reso in steam and all work good…
WOW OMG - TY. This trick of adding the “maxrez” line to the VR settings seems to have fixed it. I get a very small GPU spike but it’s maybe 90-120 seconds and not noticeable.
Os this just working for Ed or steamvr in general?
I tried Elite and it worked. I will try SteamVR main room and Alyx, and report back. Note I have MSI AB closed but FPS VR still running. Let me come back
Write the full parameter for command line, please.
"maxRecommendedResolution" = 15360
Minor note about (.json) syntax, just in case:
Items are separated by commas, so every line except the last one should end with one.
Example:
"MyObject": {
"firstkey": 1,
"secondkey": 2,
"thirdkey": 3
}
O_o
I just tried not more than 16384 before.
I mistyped 15360 for 16K. But if you have tried it why did you ask??
I didn’t know exactly, is it the same parameter in steamVR config or other.
Any update? @Heliosurge
Do you mean the latency lag issue that some are xp even with gpu monitoring software on the 4090?
If so not that I have seen. Presume both Nvidia & Pimax are still working on it. In another thread a user did say Pimax has been able to reproduce the issue and iirc Nvidia has in part acknowledged the issue; but has not updated there driver release notes as a known issue.
