Is the Pimax Display port cable proprietary? can I use a third party cable?

I am waiting on a replacement 5K Plus cable but while I am waiting on the replacement I would like to know is the Display Port Cable proprietary can I buy a third party DisplayPort cable and use it on my HMD until my replacement arrives?
