I was charged a $219 VAT for the 8KX in Europe AFTER I received it

I’m not talking about when it is collected!
I’m talking about when it is charged.

The amount shown when paying during order is the final amount and needs to include all taxes!

When and how the companies involved in the delivery send money is irelevant for the customer.

The customer has payed everything in advance.

Again - the idea is that you see how much exactly a thing will cost you before you order it.

Please tell me your order number and I will ask the customer service to check it. I think this matter is very serious. In fact, we do not know the inside information, so we want to collect your order number to find out what happened. We will deal with it seriously, could you please help us

Yes, it is.
Like Pimax themselves also now understand, given they have created an eu subdomain. But they still have some work to do there it seems.

In short - I am a customer of their European shop. If they can’t do business by European rules they close the European shop. Like the way there are still US websites that are blocking EU traffic because of GDPR.

This issue also affects Japanese customers.
When 8KX arrived I asked the FedEx guy about the sales tax.

The agent presented me with an invoice and
The “Duty And Taxes” checkbox is in the “Bill Sender” position.
He replied, “You have nothing to pay”.

A month after the 8KX arrived, I received a reminder from Pimax that I had not paid.Which was about 20% higher than the amount on the customs document.

There is no explanation for the difference between the amount of tax and the amount I owe.

Should we, as Japanese customers, open a support ticket?

Weren’t pimax just given 5 million dollars or something recently? What’s with this asking for more money from backers weeks or months after the delivery of headsets?

From the people who already spent over $1k for this thing that isn’t even complete yet? The people who funded this company now have to pay hundreds extra for what?

Stop penny pinching again, cover your own costs pimax and make some good publicity for once, not further upset your supporters.

Tbh I’d say keep your backer box, if I can’t have it unless I pay this random money… I’d rather use that money to go towards another company’s headset at this stage.

Not impressed

VAT isn’t Pimax “own costs” is it?

If they said they would cover it that’s their mistake but VAT is paid by the consumer normally.

Yes, you can submit a ticket, you can also tell me your order number directly, by private chat, if you submit a ticket, you can get a reply from the customer service, I would like to know your order number because we want to know the inside story and the reason, this is really unexpected, we are also very sorry.

Hello,

We will ask Tess to send the bill for you.

Sincerely.

20 million my bad…

As far as I know I have paid all customs and import charges, this is confusing why are they asking only now and why is it so much on top of the already high bills I paid extra.

If I order a pizza they don’t tell me 4 weeks later I need to pay for their petrol cost? This a major oversight or what? Did they just now realise they would like more money? How can they get away with this

Behold, fellow Pimaxers!

I just found this while creating a support ticket:

" VAT or Value Added Tax is a national charge placed on purchased products. VAT is a consumption tax placed on a product whenever value is added at each stage of the supply chain.

If you are located at any EU region or the United Kingdom VAT is applied to almost any purchased product. Your product payment in the Pimax store does not include VAT, so this charge is borne by consumers. VAT varies based on the policies of your local government.

In the event a courier charges you an extra fee where they didn’t tell you if it is either VAT or Customs Duties please contact the courier directly to determine what type of fee it is. If you can confirm the fee is indeed for Customs please submit a ticket to our support team and we will provide assistance for you. If you verify the extra charge is a VAT fee you are responsible for the charge."

Pimax has to check their own shipping FAQ more often :joy:

Got the same email today, what the hell… !!!

Our records indicate your order, Order Number: (…) was shipped and has likely been delivered.

This letter is in reference to FedEx Tracking No. : (…

To ensure fast and smooth delivery FedEx has delivered your package with limited customs clearance but it is important to note that your package has generated a VAT Tax and as a result has an outstanding balance in the amount of $(233.29).
(FedEx Service charge and exchange rate fluctuations are involved & it is noteworthy that the final tax bill amount is subject to the customs bill provided by FedEx, please do not be surprised if FedEx’s notice of the same order comes later)
P.S. Please inform us about your payment if you have paid to FedEx (better and prefer to ) or Pimax.)
Therefore, you must make one of the following arrangements for payment of the outstanding duty balance.
1.Direct Payment to FedEx

We have attached a document (a tax deduction authorization letter) for your convenience that you can fill out with your FedEx account number and email it to us. This will allow the outstanding VAT Tax balance to be paid from your existing FedEx account.
Note: This method requires you to have a FedEx account.

2.Remit the amount to Pimax and allow Pimax to make the payment on your behalf.

If you do not own a FedEx account you can remit the funds to Pimax and we will make the outstanding VAT Tax payment to FedEx on your behalf at no extra cost (just the exact amount of the VAT and FedEx Service charge). If you would like to use this option please select this link:

https://backer.pimaxvr.com/shop/product/price-difference-price-difference-293

Important Notes:

  1. Normally the allowed time to make a VAT Tax payment is 14 days from the delivery date. It is important the outstanding amount is paid before this time expires.
  2. If you have any additional orders with Pimax we can continue shipments once the outstanding VAT Taxes are satisfied. (we are not allowed to deliver to the same address with an outstanding VAT Tax balance).

We hope you have a great experience in your new VR world! We are here for you to continue improving your experience with free updates to your software, firmware, and more.

Thank you greatly for your understanding and cooperation,
Your Pimax Logistics Team

As an upgrader, I received an invoice including taxes and transferred this entire amount nearly a year ago.
I received this email anyway

With these documents I am of course no longer willing to pay another cent!

I agree it’s weird that they’re asking afterwards.

Normally it’s the shipping company that charges You on receiving the goods (or before) but if the original bill didn’t state VAT it’s normally not included.

I found it weird that FedEx charged me with import fees/VAT after receiving the eye tracking module but apparently charged Pimax even later with the cost of the 8KX (which I then choose to pay to Pimax). I received the eye tracking module after receiving the 8KX.

You don’t normally import pizza from China, do You…?

If I remember my Mandarin correctly, the Chinese for “plastic” is “zha pi”, or literally “false leather”.

So that should really read “plastic”.

Are you sure that’s international law?

Have You ever bought anything from outside EU before?

Doesn’t sound like it.

I regularly do and it never includes taxes of any kind.
