Crimson Driver i am currently using is 16.12.2. Newest is 17.1.2 (presume non beta).
17.1.2 reported as no working with any piplay version atm.

Reports indicate previous F/W better at this time. 248 maybe better once out of beta.
SteamVR test pics
Results 4.4 & 6. I am hoping once i have the funds to pickup another copy of W10 to test out my R9 390 8gig. As SteamVR may from 1 posters explanation may create visual things like ghosting with quick head movements with less than VR Ready 6.0+ result.
If you consider upgrading & sticking with Amd save the extra & purchase rx480 8gig model; newer & runs less power. Unless of course you find a 390 8gig considerably cheaper. Performance wise both cards are similar.
If you go with Nvidia 1070 is better choice over 1060 (1060 cannot sli) again choose higher vid ram.
Pricewise Amd is better value; tho usually have to wait on driver to mature. Or as folks have said Amd cards improve with age.
Normally AMD should provide their new graphics card in May and what I understand, Nvidia looks very worried because it would seem that they would exceed Nvidia’s performance.
I think it’s better to wait to see what these new graphics cards will give.

Truth Nvidia does have reason to be concerned. When Vulkan was released Nvidia was pissed about benchmarks in ‘Eye of Singularity’. Amd was clearly the better performer.
Typically Nvidia cards leave the gate in the lead; but don’t see big gains over time with drivers. Where as Amd maybe slow out of the gate; driver updates improve alot giving nice gains that can have them in the lead against that equivilent gen card.
Now on the tricky side of things. Unfortunately each camp has their own philosophies. So its unfortunate but for optimal performance almost need to make a list if games to see which “camp” they lean towards. And of course compare benchmarks of those games.
This could be a true game changer this year for Amd overal. New cpus & Apus coming out this year.
The Apu is what interests me. Ps4 & xbox1 have demonstrated how powerful they can be.
Apu if mem serves could be upto 16 cpu cores. & considerably strong graphics. Combine that with shared hbm memory. We might see some crazy sparks fly!
I would like to see them introduce a dual processor board with idea of running 2 apu sharing say a bank of 4 hbm memory.
