How to define acceptable quality of the lenses/displays

Let me first start by saying the Support of Pimax for me right now is absolutely great compared to some of the horror like stories out there. When something is done great, the appreciation must be given as well.

Last October I got my Supper 50ppd bought from a reseller in Belgium, not directly from Pimax. All was great and got some nice races done in iRacing and some general puzzle games, some Elite Dangerous and so on.

At some point in the right display there were pixels stuck in red and some in green. After contacting my reseller who very appreciative took care of the contact with Pimax Support and after some mails and investigations got to send me after a while (not too long actually) a replacement optical engine.

The new optical engine works great without dead pixels but there is quite a bit of difference.

I got way more notable mura, smaller sweet spot(not too much but notable) but the chromatic aberration is nearly gone.

I understand the displays and lenses can have some differences, but how to determine for a consumer what should and can be acceptable levels?

I mean VR is subjective. Some users are very sensitive to certain things, while others are not.

For mura, we’re in communication with our supplier about what it should look like within each grading level. Based on that, we select the panels and put them through inspections.

It’s similar with lenses: once we find an issue or receive a complaint from a user, we bring the unit back and send it to our suppliers for inspection.

Thanks for the feedback.

Yes this is a tricky thing. I posted this topic because the replacement unit i got is having very bad mura compared to the original unit. For racing what i primarily do it is ‘okayish’ but for flying this would be bad to be honest

Yes, but if you find the mura too annoying in your use case, please reach out to our support team to see whether they can provide a solution, such as an optical engine replacement.
