Help opening some steam games in vr

No worries.

As Aurel said it might not be possible to run it on hmd alone. Here is a link with some info that may help tweak settings.

Unfortunately I and I suspect Aurel & Industria do not have this title, yet.

Have you tried posting in Dirt Rally discussions in Steam Community? Those who own the game will likely be able to answer if you can launch the game in headset only.

I haven’t asked in the steam community yet.

What would make this possible would be a way to access the steamvr dashboard from a pimax without controllers as that would allow me to open the game with revive.

Actually i have dirt rally but i never played any of the oculus games on my pimax.
Still not sure how too run oculus ready games, because there are 2 different guides on the forum, where 1 requires access to dashboard (dont have controllers) and another one offers a software called “PiplayOCSupport” which i could not run following step by step the guide (guess it needs oculus home, and this one brings issues to piplay).

I have everything downloaded with the step to step and setup for piplayocsupport but when opening a game i think it requires for the game to be purchased and downloaded from oculus home.

Okay well I use my Steam Controller(so you can likely use a Gamepad). You shouldn’t need the Motion controllers.

I launch my games within SteamVR’s enviroment.

Okay cool. Myself I just scan as many Google links to find best info.

wow really! that solves everything if that works! ill give it a try!

Yep SteamVR is simply showing what VR hardware you have active.

Headset /Controllers/

The items in green are simpy parts of a complete VR system.

Just keep in mind it will also depend on how Codeweavers has implemented VR to how it chooses to launch(it may still launch on 2 displays 4 example)

@Heliosurge,
I flashed two Steam controller dongles and paired them to my Vive wands. So far so good. when I go into steam environment the controllers are present but across the room and turned toward me. Me is the headset. the controllers are oriented so they are pointing opposite what they should be. They do function correctly. I tried running room setup. Do you have any suggestion about how I can correct the placement of the controllers? thanks.

Unfortunately i don’t have vive wands to test with.

@crony has used them through osvr & may know tricks on getting them working… Likely need base stations possibly setup.

@SweViver may also know of tricks to use with other hmds.

Let’s be clear before I start… I don’t have this title. But I do play Oculus and steam games on my pimax.

I have revive installed and I do use it. Basically if I install any Oculus games to use with my pimax 4k. I do the following

Open steam.
Launch steamvr
Look in the bottom left of my steam library in vr compatible games
The Oculus games are ALSO listed there now
Click on the game (including the Oculus ones) click launch

I think the Oculus games are listed in steam because revive is installed.

Sometimes the game is not in steams library, that is when you can click on revive icon in your system tray and click ‘inject’ or ‘patch’ to fix the games exe to make it work in vr as I did for dying light.

So basically… Install vr games in Oculus home, then launch steamvr and those Oculus games will appear in your vr compatible list at the bottom of your library

Yes. I am using Vive’s Lighthouse in OSVR.
The following picture is taken after successful test with OSVR HDK1.4.

It is possible to operate the pimax 4k through OSVR. But I think the best way is for the pimax engineer to make this workable via piplay.
