Hi just want to share i can game in 4k resolution with my Pimax.
I use Vorpx as an injector to play allmost all games in VR.
This is what you have to do: Go to the graphic config file of the game, change the resolution there to 3840x2160 and enable windowed mode. After that change the config file to read only. Thats all.
Ingame Vorpx settings are also important, you have to find out playing with them.
It works, very crispy and clear, your gonna need a fast videocard, my msi gtx 1080 gaming 8gb just can handle it in 30 fps low settings with Vorpx
Games like Metro Last Light and Alien Isolation are stunning and lifelike! Even if the fps is lower i prefer these settings.
Good Luck, let me know if it works for you…
Sorry Jeroen, it’s impossible at the moment with the Pimax 4k. The specific (Sharp) LCD panel in the Pimax 4k only supports 4k resolution natively via a DSC 1.1 compressed signal. The problem is that the current generation videocards doesn’t support that so can’t encode it. Sony uses the same panel (different revision though) in their Xperia phones, but in their case the Snapdragon chip has a hardware engine to DSC encode.
Pimax is working on a solution (supposedly) in the form of a small external box that can encode the video output of your videocard before sending it to the Pimax. Supposedly the Pimax 8k is going to have an onboard chip to do this.
Hi thanks for the info, i don’'t understand why the images are much sharper then the settings of 2560x1440. So i did assume it works, but is this a supersampling effect you think?
Super sampling indeed might help. Btw are you on v1.1.92 ? If not, try that, you’ll see even better quality !
Yes i use that version its much better!
