This thread is not about lenses, it would be better to start new thread about it.
As per your request move vr frames to seperse topic.
Great, thank you.
Thanks. We bought two MR headsets, the flip up features very usefull. We are evaluating to use some similar design.
Excellent, thanks. Please take a look also on PSVR with push forward/back movement that helps to individually set comfortable position so headset does not press user to the face (no red marks: Popular Science Homepage | Popular Science) and there is also sufficient room for glasses wearers with less risk of scratching lenses. More room after moving headset forward could also help during flipping up/down so the headset does not push the glasses. Maybe moving parts could be added just to the strap without alternating of main headset design.
I just would like to inform you that a previous criticism of the flip up design has been while playing active games, the headset would become loose and flip up for example while jumping or while performing other vigorous movements, I could only see it being viable if there were a way of securely locking it in the down position, If one could not secure it in place and provide a very strong hinge capable of withstanding a lot of abuse the possible added feature could be a place for failure and a flaw in an otherwise solid HMD design.
Indeed & should have quick release side straps to prevent wobble for side2side.
Hi Heliosurge I can see your going for the complete Cyborg look
Just adding suggestions up. A somewhat technical solution would be if all else fails just use duck tape. On a more serious note Heliosurge I really do appreciate all your hard work helping out on this forum, I know Iāve said that before but its true your responses are encouraging to us who might not readily participate here. Thanks again.
Your welcome. If you look up Technoman the headset kinda could get us one step closer.
In a serious duct tape note; do wevknow if Red Green is a backer?
Ha Ha Old Red Green could put something together Iām sure, I suppose heās still up in Canada land.
Glad I bought the standard cloth headstrap⦠Seems like people who have never used a vr headset are trying to junk this thing up with unneeded features.
A flip up head strap is a terrible idea. You want the vr headset attached firmly to your face for room scale vr. If itās loose at all itās going to suck.
I donāt even see how itās more convenient⦠Man people are so incredibly lazy now days.
Not everybody is using VR headset the same way and these headsets should be possible to adjust to various scenarios (I know, it is a nigtmare for headsets producers ). I have currently PSVR and my usage is movies/2D games in virtual cinema approximately 50% and VR games 50%. For movies there is no need for tight fit of headset, quite the opposite, maximum comfort is welcomed for long time watching. I guess with Pimax 8K there will be even more people using this headset for virtual cinema because of high-res. Also, as was mentioned in discussion, nose blowing is a problem if somebody gets a cold, has allergy etc and must repeatedly remove the headset. Do not underestimate how often headset users can be in this situation. As you said, you bought a cloth headstrap as you prefer tight fit. If Pimax produces different headstraps for various scenarios, it will be probably best way as I can hardly imagine perfect universal headstrap.
Flip up visors are very usefull to developers like me.
I hear you. I like the concept but with the prospect if wobble as i posted ti keep it firm it would need easy detachable side straps (velcro) to ensure tight against face for gaming. At Immersed we fpumd if the headset was not tight enough it allowed wobble. & we know hinges always get looser with time in my experience.
If they do go with flip up the cloth straps on the side will be easily moddable with my prescribe fix.
Yes, I think it is a good idea for solving this problem.
What about a system like the used by the LG SteamVR prototype? Is not solid enought?
I do not know how good that works as only pictures are available and hardly anybody could try it. This would need of complete redesign of headset, not just a strap tweaks. Also when I look at back part of their solution, I cannot imagine how anybody would use that headset for watching movies when lying in bed with head on the pillow.
Yes, Iām concerned for the last, good point.
Possibly might work. However the PiMax headset is quite a bit wider due to the extra wide fov. Truth wonāt know how well till it is trialed.
