Eye tracking issue when eyes are closer to the lenses (Super OLED)

Eye tracking does not work, or barely works after I improve the facial interface. With stock, my eyes were further by the FOV wasn’t great. Now I am enjoying the full FOV of the headset and better comfort but eye tracking has trouble working.

In calibration, it does not see my eyes if too close. If I move further it’s working, even though it’s never been perfect for me (eye tracking often drops or jitters).

I am guessing this is a matter of eye/face shape.

Question to Pimax: are you still actively working with Tobii to improve the eye tracking algorithm? Also, is there a way to test if the sensors just simply cannot see the pupil of eye somehow because I’m too close or because of the shape of my eye sockets (appart from calibration)?

Question to others: am I the only one in that situation?

Btw, the facial interface I am using is this one:

I have a new Dream Air SLAM and I had eye tracking issues with the original facial interface. I fitted the Sudioform kit as soon as it arrived and packed it out as i felt too close with the original. I now am more comfortable and eye tracking does allow me to calibrate. I’m not certain yet if it is working correctly though.

In short, you are not the only one.

@PimaxQuorra Anything on this?

Let me check with the dev team. The last discussion regarding eye tracking was about re-enabling Auto-IPD.

However, if your eyes are too close to the lenses, it may cause calibration to fail or affect tracking performance, as the cameras may not be able to track your pupils properly.

Is there any tool where I could first test if the cameras actually see my eye?
I’m happy to help if your developers can send me something!

Thanks, that look very interesting. Too bad the repository is closed source…

For reference, see my new post. The hardware explanation does not hold.
