I’m having a problem with my Dream Air SLAM. The displays turn off after a while, but I can’t switch the headset off completely. The blue light on the top stays on, and the headset gets warm even with the displays turned off. I’ve tried holding down the button for several seconds, but the headset doesn’t shut down completely.
I don’t think it does, my Dream Air LH is the same, there’s no true off except by unplugging it and it stays warm, although not as warm as when in active use. The button only turns the displays off I think, I don’t ever press it atm. Although mine has a green light unless it’s connected to PiPlay, in which case the light is blue.
Not entirely new, my 8KX always has a red light when connected (1xDP and 2x USB only, no plug). The 5k+ turned fully off.
I don’t think it should be like that, though. The display turns off automatically after 20 seconds when the headset isn’t in use, which is a good thing. I just don’t understand why you can’t turn the headset off completely. If it stays warm, it’s consuming power. Pimax really ought to improve that.
Agreed, however only Pimax can answer their design intentions, that’s how it is.
In the quick guide, it’s described as a Function key, with no explanation of that function. And the website doesn’t offer any detailed manual. Maybe the YT setup guide does explain, would have to check but imo it’s not enough information.
@PimaxQuorra can you explain why there isn’t a proper Off mode on the headsets?
You can either use a smart plug or simply leave the headset powered on after closing Pimax Play, as it’s completely safe to do so.
The headset only draws a tiny amount of power to keep the lenses slightly warm, which helps prevent them from fogging up when you put the headset on.
