Hi Guys,
I have A DJI Phantom 4 with HDMI out.
If I Buy a 2D to 3D converter like this:
Can I use the Pimax 4K as FPVgoggle?
If I connect the Pimax 4K direct to the DJI HDMI output, no video is shown.
regards,
Alan

DJI is not a VR device. Pimax 4K is compatible with VR content platforms, e.g. steam
Hi Alan!
Welcome to the PiMax Forums. VR headsets are not seen as a 3d device. To use pc vr headsets you need a pc as the “go between” device.
Now if your thinking on fpv you might be able to do so with a laptop using Video(extend) mode for non vr program with a sbs injector if the source is not dual cam.
Now there are some headsets that are All-In-One headsets that support what is called Cinema mode that can work without a pc with an hdmi input. Psvr supports Cinema mode.
Now i don’t know how far this one fellows project went. But there was a guy working on trying use a Raspberry Pi with a cam on the PiMax 4k.
Here is the link to that project on the Raspberry Pi forum. @deletedpimaxrep1 your team might be interested as well.
Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I have read tis artikel, but its not what i mean. I have test the raspberry pi with android 7.1 and change de config.txt to match the HDMI singnal for the PIMax, but this platform is not powerfull to handel 3d 1080p signals.(with android ) But We can connect the Pimax to a standard 32bit windows laptop (without piplay)with a HDMI output or with a DP to HDMI converter then put the video orientating in portait mode, so we are able to show the desktop on the pimax.( not in sbs yet) then if we copy the xbmc map frim the pimax folder to the standard laptop and execute XBMC, we can view movies in 3d on the pimax. But if we do not use xbmc but a 2d to 3d hdmi converter can we view the complete desktop on the pimax? If we can, then it must be possible to view the hdmi output from the DJI Phantom?
Regards,
Alan
The problem with your dji phantom could be that it might look for a 3d tv. As the PiMax 4k headset is not recognized as a 3d display probably not.
You could test this with hooking up a non 3d source to convert to 3d outputted to a non 3d monitor & see if if the screen displays side by side.
There is also 3d injectors like vorpx, tridef & i think a free one @WalterDasTrevas mentioned is called superdepth?
There is also a raspberry pi alternative i think called Odroid? It has 2x or 4x the raspberry pi processing power at i think twice the price.
What about an android tv-box?
If we can set the HDMI output on the right way, then we have a multi functional media box for the Pimax.
Video cinema with and with out Kodi and in my case a VR platform for the DJI…
I have read about some experiments with a android tv-box here somewhere on this forum, but no details how to do it.
I own a M8S android tv-box (up to 4K and octacore GPU with 2G memory), so I can do some experiments and test with it.
If I connect the pimax now to the HDMI output, i see nothing… the box do not recognize the pimax.
How can we fix this?
regards,
Alan
