Yes, but it could be done; it have to be similar, or it can be a insertable circuit to replace the old one.
From what I understood it’s only a panel they have co-developed (or a possible optics system including lenses and eye-tracking, according to their paper).
Nowhere can I find any information that might suggest implementation in an actual HMD. This appears to be pure research and extremely far off any b2c product.

I thought the most recent news on that was from Palmer Luckey on Twitter stating the project had been scrapped in Spring?

He said “at hold”, But now Google and LG tell all their secrets to Palmer?
It is very likely that LG were waiting for these displays. Or the next move from Apple.
This was a model showed one year ago, hope they are not going to use the same headset with just the new panels in it, it had a somewhat disappointing FOV.
In absence of any more Pimax 8k updates, let’s hope INT Tech and/or JDI will have some encouraging info today at their presentations!
