Crystal Light or Dream Air SE

Hello everyone, I want to upgrade Quest 3 to either Crystal Light or Dream Air SE to use in DCS. I have an AMD 7800 HD, and my GPU is an RTX 5080. Any recommendations?

I can’t comment on the dream air but I have used the quest3 and now have a crystal light and I am really enjoying the crystal light as it’s been far less trouble than the Quest 3 reliability wise. Every time meta issues an update something in the link cable software gets borked up and I simply got tired of constantly trying to sort it out only for meta to “update” the software again. Only negative with crystal light compared to the Q3 is the extra weight but it didn’t take long to get used to it. On the positive side no more monkeying around with the link cable crap all the time so I can just play without having to spend hours trying to get it to work reliably.

DustyBritches,

Are you using headphones with your headset?

You should be fine with your current setup.

If I had to choose, I’d lean toward the Dream Air SE—it uses micro-OLED panels and includes eye tracking, and it’s significantly lighter than the Crystal Light, which makes a big difference for longer sessions.

That said, you might want to check out some reviews of the Crystal Light with DCS first. Then wait a bit for more reviews of the Dream Air SE before making your final decision.

Yeah, I’m going to wait a little. But have noticed what everyone is talking about, the screen door look.

Have you considered the bigscreen beyond 2 or 2e? It is now shipping within 3 days of ordering it. And has the same panels that the dream air se will have which are micro oled 2560x2560 pixels per eye when running at 75hz and 1920x1920 upscaled when running at 90hz. It’s also a DisplayPort headset and is super light and comes with a custom 3d printed face cushion. Or you can get the universal face cushion and the halo mount, or audio strap. Only downside is that it needs base stations and lighthouse compatible controllers to work but I love mine.
