Is there any possibility of testing it with your headset. Not so worried about performance but there has been posts about issues with the display ports on some laptops. it would suck to commit to 6 grand and then it not actually being able to deliver a useable output. Some laptops does not actually drive the external display from the GPU and instead from the IGPU, which is… really stupid. and some are just not very compatible with the 8kx.

First thing I will test is the Pimax 8k X performance with it and the StarVR One. The StarVR One should run fine. I still havent update the 8K X to enabled the 90hz mode, so still running at 75hz. A GTX 1080 ran plenty games fine with it, not the heavy ones like racing games.
Regarding the display connectivity, it should be fine since the machine does not have Optimus. The problem you mention stems from The headset not having the ability to access the GPU directly. For those laptops to bypass Optimus is using mini display port or Thunderbolt if those machines have them

The only monkey wrench would be opting for a Clevo with the Desktop CPU and the 165watts RTX 3080. But in reality is just based on the desktop 3070 with gimped wattage

I was called from the Acer Shop to pick up the ConceptD 9 Pro. That machine is the sexiest laptop I have ever seen or feel. So substantially heavy and metal, yet not thick. However, we turned it on at the shop and the machine showed that it could not find the hard drive. Now I have to wait a few days since it was sent to the Acers Service center. Not what you want to hear or witness on your brand new 6k Laptop workstation

I’ve not had the best experiences with Acer, or any one I know for that matter.

Hehe. These laptops are real Unicorns, there is no product quite like it. Also according to Acer main offices that is the last Unit for sale in the country. Not sure that is good or bad. However, I do have 2 years full warranty and they pick up the unit and return it. So I am not I’ll hold my judgment.
First think I will do is test the pen digitizer and the the Pimax 8KX. I am curious how it handles the GPU at 75HZ. I am not going to upgrade to the 90hz. Don’t think the machine will handle it well

So far the Laptop is powering the 8K X. I will do more testing after I finish a project
