A SuperOpen member built a facial tracking setup for VRChat, and it actually works

One of the cooler things we’ve seen recently: a community member named Dino built a facial tracking setup specifically for Pimax headsets, and it’s clearly designed with VRChat use in mind.

The project includes a custom 3D-printed case with hidden LED / IR channels, which keeps everything clean and compact while making facial tracking usable even in low-light or nighttime environments. No messy wiring, no awkward add-ons — just a practical, user-driven solution.

For VRChat users, this kind of setup can make a real difference. Better facial expression tracking means more natural avatar reactions and smoother social interaction, especially for people who spend a lot of time in social VR.

This came out of the SuperOpen community, where users are actively sharing hardware mods, prototypes, and ideas like this and helping each other iterate on them. If you’re into VRChat, hardware modding, or just curious about open VR hardware, it’s a pretty interesting place to follow and join the discussion. https://discord.com/invite/99p7UXaMUr

Also worth mentioning: during the current event, using the SuperOpen code when purchasing a Crystal Super gets you a free Pimax DMAS audio solution and a free 3D-printed model from the community designs — a nice bonus if you’re already looking at the headset.
Don’t miss out, get it now!
