A few things I don't like about the G2 that the 8KX does better

Why not simply wait and use the New DP standard.

Excellent points. Kevin it might be an idea for 3rdparty audio options to release a 3dprintable model base with info for inserting connectors to use the MAS jacks with Rotation.

Additionally Pimax could also sell these Audio Base inserts to build off of.

Looking forward to this release to see how it performs. Will this in future see an adapter plate to allow the X to use HT and ET together?

Awesome this is definitely a very Strong need.

One member here found a simple cut on each side making it a flip flap works well and gives an option to remove without needing say tape to plug hole.

Well Fixed Lense imho should really be Aspherical like on the psvr and the p1 series headsets. Though even then at this point in time, just have proper hardware lense adjustment range with Eye Relief.

Where the original Vive shone, to stray somewhat from the topic, was in its, relatively speaking, decent stereo overlap. -Sure, it’s only a scant few degrees difference, and that is with a chip taken out of it in the middle, where the noseward screen edge bulges inward, but I still feel much less comfortable with every headset I have owned since, for it. :7

yes you are correct if i push it to one side and line up one eye perfectly it doesn’t change the fact that the sweetspot is tiny.

You ever see what happens when a console game is ported to PC without all of the graphics options we have come to expect?

PC gamers lose their collective sheit.

The problem is you have all of these guys who are use to these noob headsets without settings.

Then they attempt to do the same with a Pimax and complain when it doesn’t work right.

With PE up front and center making the settings look like a feature, rather than a hidden mess of unfriendly options

It would kind of work as a disclaimer for Pimax

Use the settings. Follow the wizard to align your hmd correctly and adjust color to your preference.

So remember that oculus issue regarding potentially defective lenses?

here

Well it certainly is more possible that HP would have a similar issue.

My g2 looks like similar to this. (Not quite as bad/blurry)

except this picture has a larger focused area. The G2 the focused area is only the middle column

Poor ports; GTA IV comes to mind as a big one that a 3090’s capabilities are meaningless.

This is in part as VR with Gen1 wasn’t really what dedicated gamers were looking for with the Low Res. At least the hard core gamer junkies whom want it beautiful.

More recently with the High res headsets this will help draw flat gamers into the fold.

However for the majority need somethings easier and that is where as you said.

Simpler pc users want simplistic interfaces where things simply set things up without much bother.

Which can be a pain with having so many places to tweak settings just to get a decent xp playing.

Wizards and automatic profiles are definitely a plus to making it easier. Some games are good at figuring out default settings based on Hardware one has.

The problem is that anyone considering a Pimax should be made aware that it’s a little more “advanced”

Imagine buying a TV from a department store and realizing when you got home that there was no options menu to change sharpness, brightness, backlight and turn off the soap opera smoothing effect.

Just turn on the tv with department store defaults and rate the tv as having bad picture quality.

Not all people with Money are Advanced.

Hence the expression more money than brains.

I have some friends that buy things they don’t need to do what they want to do with a pc.

PC Master Race - some come across if you don’t know you shouldn’t use a pc. “If you want that, buy a console”

Which is not productive.

ok weird. After the ipd mod I have sharp image on most of the image. Maybe there indeed are manufacturing inconsistencies. I guess we’ll hear soon more from MRTV about that.

what program is he using for the sharpness test? I would like to try this myself

just adding "announce only when you have stock to ship out, I feel this alone should suffice.

I find the sweet spot way better than this so it’s definitely individual.

I would guess your ipd is <70mm as I think @drowhunter mentioned his was around 70mm.

Which would place you in the more ideal “sweet spot” of the Ipd range.

Yes indeed my Ipd is 64 :0)

I see users obviously within the ipd range reporting small sweetspot issues. It starts to sound like there are different quality G2 lenses out there

Different quality, or different quality in alignment during assembly (EDIT: …and in both cases, maybe that shouldn’t have made it past calibration and quality control)… :7

…or maybe it truly is an individual thing, rather than variabilty between units/batches, in which case I’d have to wonder whether we are dealing with a similar optical/physiological situation as we have (EDIT2: …seemingly…) seen from user to user, with Pimax devices… :7
