No I was mostly referring to adult videos. I do have a subscription to a high quality adult vr site and I can share a sample video if you would like for testing purposes.
I think that the 5K+ is similar to the oculus go in terms of blacks and resolution (at 90Hz instead of 60/72) and the 5K BE to the Odyssey and Vive Pro, but with less glare, wide fov and 85Hz instead of 90, but Iād like a real comparison
Also may i ask another question? I have only used so far the oculus Rift. I have a nvidia gtx 1080. I see in the specs that I should be ok for the Pimax 5k and 5kBE. but for 8k I see the required is 1080Ti. does that mean that the 8K is not for me and 1080 will not be able to handle 8K?
or is it just a recommended spec. and maybe it might be able to run it?
Let me know if you find something else. I donāt watch porn as I believe it to be harmful and disrespectful to my wife. I can test a bluray ripped movie for you, but those are only 1080p
For just watching video, you should be fine. They mainly list the spec as such for gaming. The only reason the 8K requires a higher GPU is because it has to have more supersampling to get rid of the blurriness that the scaler introduces. If it was working with my external GPU I could have tested it on my 1080, but unfortunately I havenāt been able to get either headset working reliably with it.
Thanks a lot evertec! I will look for some other high quality 3d vidoes on the web and will get back to you if I find anything! Thanks!
Each of the displays have their own pros and cons. The problem is, NONE of them is best overall. Thatās part of being on the bleeding edge of technology. Something much better is always at least a few years away.
To decide which is best for you, you need to decide what is most and least important to you. That is, a pros and cons list.
Iāve personally decided on getting a 5K+, but Iād also probably be happy with any of the 3 units. That means that the risk of failure is very low. Thatās what you need to keep in mind, so you donāt get too stressed out. Hereās a brief list of the most relevant features of each. All you need to do is decide whatās most important to you.
5K+: 90 Hz refresh rate, crisp text, small SDE, fair colors and black level.
5K BE: ~82 Hz refresh rate, medium SDE (which makes small text harder to read), great colors, excellent blacks, probably has some minor black smear.
8K: 80 Hz refresh rate, slightly fuzzy text, small SDE, the smallest pixels, slightly better colors and blacks than 5K+.
All have great FOV, a large sweet spot, minimal god rays, are fairly comfortable, and have the same somewhat flakey software and setup issues (with base stations).
Notice none of them are āperfectā. What Iād really like is a full RGB stripe OLED display, 90+ Hz, native 4K (or higher) per eye, very crisp text and details, invisible SDE, and no black smear. Oh, and a GPU capable of driving it, which isnāt even going to be available for a few years yet.
Add there: HDR support, g-sync, front camera to peek the real world.
Edit. And 200 fov (whatever is the fov without visible borders)
Agreed. I knew I would forget something!
Personally, Iām not sure G-sync is appropriate for VR. I think itās handled better by synthesizing missing frames, to keep the framerate consistent.
Ok, I donāt know. Maybe. The frame interpolation is indeed an option.
Edit. Or would / could be
Hey Evertec. I really want your comparison for video watching now that you the 5k 8k and odyseyy+. I found a 8k 360 video on youtube. I am not sure if there is a way to download it. But maybe there is a way you can test this video in all of the 3 hmds? here is the link.
I would really like your opinion on which one you think is the best for videos in terms of factors like clarity and sde and resolution and just overall which one has the best picture when watching videos.
here is the link. its of a waterfall video: 360°, Angel Falls, Venezuela. Aerial 8K video - YouTube
I think there is a youtube app for steam
