5K BE vs 5K+BE Have I made a mistake?

Hey fellow enthusiasts and hopefully Pimax employees.

Back in January I signed myself up for the pre-orders. With the options back then being 5K+, 8K, 5K BE and 8K BE.

I can’t stand LCD blacks since I love horror titles and I was wondering if the pixel layout between the 5K BE and the 5K BE + is any different. I’m worried that the standard BE edition will suffer from bad readability on text and screen door effect.

So in short, will there be a clear visible difference in the 5K BE and the 5K BE+.

Yes. SDE and resolution significantly worse on 5kBE according to both Pimax and those who have tried it. Better blacks and colours though.

You may have just mis tyed but The 5K BE and 5K BE+ are one in the same, actually there isnt a 5K BE+, you must mean 5K+ :grin: And yes the BE will have more SDE but colors and blacks will be excellent

Apparently the 5k BE is now called the 5k XR. Hope that clears every thing up.

5K+ BE is just a 5K+ with business support for arcades etc.

As far as I know there are 4 different PiMax headsets available, hardware wise:
4K - Pre-kickstarter headset
5K+ - 1440p x 2 90Hz LCD
8K - 4K x 2 80Hz LCD (1440p upscaled to 4K)
5K BE / 5K XR (new name) - 1440p x 2 ~83 Hz OLED

The 5K+ and the 8K are also sold as “BE” editions (5K+ BE and 8K BE).

Same hardware, just business support package and a “BE” print on the housing.

Thanks for the clarification!

I assume that’s why Pimax is stepping away from “BE” as their term for the OLED version to remove these confusions.
